"This family owned company lifted a sinking concrete patio in our yard 4 years ago. The husband and wife team came and analyzed and quoted. Their sons did the work. Unfortunately, the concrete started to sink again 4 years later, so we called them. They were very concerned and although so much time had elapsed, they wanted to come out and redo it for no charge. We are xtremely pleased with their excellent customer service, the fact that they stand behind their work after 4 years, and professionalism. They cleaned up and were very responsive. Highly recommend their services!"

"Jaenke concrete did a great job on our driveway. I initially contacted them in the fall of 2013 and they said they would get back to me in the spring. I contacted them in June after not hearing from them. After contacting them they were very prompt in getting the job done. I believe they were there within two weeks. They work fast and did a great job. All employees knew what they were doing and got the job done in two days. The finish work on the concrete was also done very well. they did everything we asked them to do and the price was good. We definitely got our moneys worth. <br />"

Instructions were provide on how to care for the plants and lawn. After the work was complete there was a final walk through with the manager of the project. "Things went very well. The four-person crew was prompt, professional and and efficient. The foreman described what was going to happen and how. The concrete walkway, front step and driveway sections that had settled over time were gently lifted and leveled using a polymer foam. After the work, all of the driveway section seams were level and smooth. Very few traces of the work were left behind. We would highly recommend Badger Basement Systems."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Eau Claire, WI

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
