"Excellent! Gary did a fantastic job! He was very professional and offered to come over the next day - Saturday! - to look at the job and see what needed to be done. He mentioned that he would call shortly after 8 am and sure enough, by 8:15 I was on the phone with him being told that he was on his way over. The visit took all of 10 min and he let me know that he estimated the work to be about 1 1/2 hours of labor and about $200 and that he would be able to come by either Thursday or Friday of the up-coming week. When he arrived on Friday not only did he get the job done in less that the time he thought but he also charged less than he estimated. Needless to say, the guests have now come & gone and the shower worked wonderfully! I will definitely keep his number in my contacts. Nice to know we have a great local independent plumber in Eau Claire!"

"They sent out two plumbers for the job. Nice guys. I thought one was an apprentice because he was younger so I didn't say anything, then got a steep bill for the cost of 2 plumbers (they claimed they were giving my a break off the bill). The leak was fixed but water was coming out of my tub brown when I first turned it on, so I called em again. They told me to wait a while and see if it stopped, so I waited a couple months and called em to come out to fix it. They did fix it for free (but it was their error in the first place). Those few months of brown water when you started the bath ended up causing a corroded spot around the old tub drain. Not sure if I'll be able to fix that and get it looking nice."

"I always go to them for plumbing. They are great. I am having them come out because I have a leaky pipe. They are very good. They are very reasonable priced. Their prices are very good. If it is an emergency they will come out that way. But if it isn't an emergency it takes a while to get out. They are pretty busy. I will continue to use them."

"I was happy with the quality of work but had a little shock when I received the bill.  I knew ahead of time there would be a $140 diagnosis charge but I did not expect $114 charge to replace a part that can't have cost more than $30 retail and 90% of time spent would've been on diagnosis.  All in all, the technician was here not more than one hour.  I asked how the charges were broken out on the contactor repair and was told it was a flat book rate which is why there was no breakout for labor and parts.  Perhaps this is standard practice for HVAC but it doesn't provide a very above board understanding of costs.  Perhaps it comes down to more of a trip charge that is built into the other costs and for this they do not break it out.  I do credit them however that they responded very quickly on a hot friday afternoon.  My air conditioning unit was tripping the breaker and they diagnosed and fixed it in under an hour. <br />"

"His name is Keith Richard and I believe he is the only employee. His price included the price of the toilets. I've used other plumbers and he was by far the nicest and did the best work. There was one problem with the disposal and he came right back out. He is definitely the best one I've used. His prices are very reasonable and much cheaper than another plumber I've used and he was twice as good. I would recommend him to anyone and I would definitely hire him again."

"My experience with Wiersgalla Co. Plumbing & Heating went amazingly well. I was very impressed with the results. We had a significant air release into our upper floors. I wasn't happy with the price, though. But I was very satisfied with the end result. I had other companies look at it and they didn't find the problem. He kept explaining what he was doing and why. That was really nice. I asked him some questions and he answered all of them. I wasn't happy paying that much money, but they got it fixed."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Eau Claire, WI

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
