"Rome & his crew were great to work with from the get go. Rome is super responsive to phone/text and after a review over phone and texts provided me with estimates, colors and options. The team worked hard, were quick and did a great job and cleaned up post work. Rome walked me thru options on redoing my steps. To the patio and guided me on options. I am very happy and satisfied with their work and would hire Rome on future projects, if a need arose."

"Garret provided a fast quote for my project which was very reasonably priced. He took time to answer my questions with fast turnaround for responses. His availability was also very quick, and I wanted my project done as soon as possible to meet other deadlines. Garret and Larry showed up on time and were very courteous and professional, and respectful of my property in their prep work and during the concrete pour. They both answered my questions and explained the project details, along with follow-up that was required. I highly recommend Northwest Concrete Cutting for anyone needing a concrete pour."

"It went great, in fact better than we were expecting! Sam came out to our home exactly when he said he would be there and gave us an estimate that was in line with other estimates we had received. He was very thorough in explaining all the steps they would take to ensure we got a great product and answered all the questions we had. The crew arrived the following Monday to start the work; the workers were personable, knew exactly what they were doing and asked questions to make sure the project was exactly as we requested. Very hard workers, finished that afternoon and left the site clean and neat. All the debris was removed and disposed of. It was a very unstressful experience and we would DEFINITELY hire Island Concrete again if we require further work in the future. We'd also recommend this company if you are looking for quality work at a fair price from a crew that knows their stuff!!! Can't say enough!"

"Luis and his crew did a great job in handling a tricky concrete walkway removal and reinstallation of that same concrete walkway sections. The removal was required for needed sewer line repairs under the walkway but we needed to retain the existing walkway to be consistent with the rest of the walkway and home entrance. They were able to do this quickly and with great care to maintain the look of the rest of the walkway and entrance. It was job very well done."

"We hired Pioneer about a year ago to remove an old driveway and concrete patio. The team worked quickly removed the old broken concrete and created all new outdoor hardscapes adding an new expanded patio, new walkways, and a new RV/boat parking area. The price was very reasonable for the work they did and it was all done on schedule. The workmanship is great and everything still looks nice even a year later."

"Our job was slightly complicated in that the front porch has no support below it on one corner and is over the unfinished basement. Three other contractors had come out and 'thought' they could do our job. Shoreline Concrete was the only company that knew they could handle the situation and not have the new porch crash down into the basement. They were professional, fast, and very experienced. The job site was always left tidy at the end of the day. <br /> After the concrete was poured and forms removed, there were a few cosmetic flaws. They came back promptly and fixed those to our satisfaction. I also appreciated the Ivan and Tim had good design sense and were willing to share their thoughts. <br />"

"They provided a fair bid and their work was excellent. They build a new level to our outdoor patio and redid the tile on our old patio. They also created a great gravel walkway with stairs. Very professional crews and got the job done when they said they would. No surprises."

"They were very quick to respond to me. They were on time to do the patio and did more then what we contracted to do. I would absolutely hire them again if I had more concrete work to do. They cleaned up after they were done. I highly recommend them."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Edmonds, WA

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
