"We hired STL DIrect to replace windows and sliders in our home and we are so happy with the results. The quality of the windows and doors are excellent. From our Sales Rep Cheryl ,to the Installer Hannah and Project Manager Mike we received great customer service. I plan to contact STL Direct for any future home projects."

"We have used Midtown Home Improvement for two major projects. Each had minor flaws and Midtown returned and delivered the product we expected. The first project’s problem, a front door replacement, was due to a simple misunderstanding—we wanted a double deadbolt lock on the door. Midtown replaced the lock in short order. Simple, right? However, a telling indicator of Midtown’s concern for quality was that they also keyed the front screen door’s lock to the double deadbolt lock, and to the exterior door handle lock. We would have been happy with two or even three keys, but Midtown allowed us the convenience of carrying around a single key without us asking. As I said, it seemed a simple enhancement (assuming you are a locksmith), but very nice. The 2nd project was to remove a fiber/plastic shower and a partial wall with a ceramic tile shower (the list of shower renovations goes on a bit). For whatever reason, we didn’t notice the leak for 15 months but, leaks can be tricky."

FAQs for doors (exterior) installation and replacement projects in Edwardsville, IL

If your entry bakes in direct sun, fiberglass is the clear winner. The material shrugs off extreme heat, stays energy-efficient, and won’t warp or fade the way wood sometimes can. Paired with low-E or UV-blocking glass, a quality fiberglass door keeps hot air out, cool air in, and should serve you reliably for roughly two decades.

A seasoned door pro can hang a replacement door in two to four hours—mounting the slab, tweaking the fit, and adding hinges, knobs, and weatherstripping. If the jamb needs repairs or you’re cutting a brand-new opening, plan on extra time so everything lines up and seals tightly. Either way, most projects wrap up in a single afternoon.
