"Chad and Joe at Whitcomb & Holmes were so great to work with!! We couldn’t recommend them highly enough if you’re looking for someone to remodel your space. From our first conversation with them, we knew that we could trust them to get the job done in our exact vision. They helped us to work within our budget and provided valuable insights and recommendations based on their experience. We’re thrilled with how it’s come out and won’t hesitate to use them for future home projects!"

"Timber and Meghan were great to work with. The price for the work was extremely reasonable and Timber was very flexible and creative with solutions. The original plan was to power wash and treat the existing fence and pergola. Timber suggested going over the old fence with a new fence and building a new pergola. The overall cost for these changes was pretty much the materials. We provided Timber with a photo of a pergola that we found on line and he recreated it flawlessly. I cannot praise Timber highly enough. We are thrilled with the new deck. One of our friends is a retired home builder who is never impressed. He had nothing but praise for the quality and craftsmanship of the work. We already have plans to engage Timber for additional projects. PS We had to order a new dishwasher while Timber was here. He installed it for us and took the old one away."

"We were looking to facelift a small bathroom without a major remodel. TJ did not try to oversell the project (he actually suggested doing less rather than more) and was able to have a custom counter/sink made for a very tricky cabinet base. His crew installed 2 toilets, a light fixture, and a new sink top (including all new plumbing in the cabinet) in less than a day AND in the middle of a pandemic and snowy weather. They laid drop cloths from the front door to the bath, wore masks, and left no clean for me. Communication via email was easy throughout the process and Lisa , in the office, was delightful anytime I had to call. We will definitely reach out to TJ at W.B. Dickenson if we are need of another facelift, a full remodel, or just have some plumbing work to be done!"

"Abdul Perry and crew did a fantastic job. Diligent workers, meticulous work. Cleaned up at the end of every day. The price was fair. They even took care of the rot around some windows and walls. No hidden fees, no unnecessary work done. We will definitely be hiring them for future projects."

"Very nice people to deal with but terrible at communication. The onsite carpenter was wonderful but the rest of the company was slow to respond on issues. I had to email and text several people to get a response. All things were resolved after a bit of work. Overall pleased with the kitchen."

"I recently had my shingle roof replaced and I?m very happy with the results. The team was professional, punctual, and completed the job efficiently. The quality of the work is excellent, and the new roof looks great. They kept the work area clean and communicated well throughout the process. I would definitely recommend them to anyone needing a roof replacement."

"<p>We made an appointment and met to discuss my plans, and he showed me the pros and cons of the various options in kitchen cabinetry. This way we could spend the money on the inside, where it didn't show, to get a sturdy product, as opposed to just on the outside, which might look better (who's to say?) but not be as sturdy. As we were designing a small island, I wanted it to be rock solid, so that's where we focused. He was able to direct me to a stone distributor that sold remnants, so I was able to get $80/sq.ft. stone in a 36"x36" piece for $30 sq. ft., a terrific savings. He was invaluable and if I was another store, I'd try to steal him with an offer he couldn't refuse.</p> <br />"

"Truly excellent experience with Kieth Gauvin Roofing. Kieth (owner), John (job supervisor), and the crew were professional, hardworking, and exhibited an attention to detail which is seldom found in today's contractors. The whole crew treated my house as if they were working on their own homes. The roof installation through all phases was done with care, professionalism, and on time, and the end result made my 34 year old house look new. Kieth was a pleasure to work with, gave me straight forward answers, and addressed any/all of my concerns. A true professional."

"Guy did a wonderful job. He is very professional and courteous. When he looked at my space, he offered suggestions and tips, which ultimately saved me some dollars. I am also very wary of having servicepeople and contractors in my home when I'm not there. I gave Guy the key to the house so that he was able to finish the job and not have to wait for me to return home from work. Believe me, I would not have done that for any other contractor. Guy is very trustworthy and his work is top notch. I would definitely use him again."

FAQs for remodel to accommodate a disability projects in Ellington, CT

Standard Medicare coverage often doesn't extend to home modifications, such as roll-in showers. In specific circumstances where medical necessity is clearly established, limited coverage might be available through certain Medicare programs. Many homeowners explore alternative funding sources such as home modification grants, veterans' benefits, or specialized financing programs designed for accessibility improvements. Consulting with a Medicare representative about your specific situation provides the most accurate guidance.

Roll-in showers deliver significant benefits beyond their monetary return, particularly in terms of safety, independence, and long-term accessibility. By eliminating barriers to bathing, these installations help prevent falls while accommodating mobility devices, such as wheelchairs or walkers. Their open design creates a contemporary appearance that appeals to many homebuyers. For households planning to age in place or accommodate family members with mobility challenges, the functional advantages often outweigh pure financial considerations.

A standard roll-in shower installation takes two to four days. Projects requiring extensive renovation or plumbing changes may take longer, potentially extending to several weeks or months. Factors affecting the timeline include existing bathroom configuration, permit processing times, contractor availability, and material delivery schedules. Creating proper drainage slopes often requires additional preparation time compared to traditional shower installations, particularly when modifying existing floor structures.
