"They have great pricing for the quality of work they do. Right before they started work I had to go in for emergency surgery for appendicitis. They made sure they sealed off the house before I came home from the hospital. They made sure the work did not disturb me when I came home from the hospital. They were as quiet as possible, so I was not bothered. They cleaned up well after themselves everyday."

"Was very happy with kitchen installation last fall and hired Burden again for our bathroom renovation and some additional work. Not only do they show up on the day you expect them, they are punctual and come at the exact time they say they will. Tom is great at cabinetry and turned two individual cabinets into an island at our request. He custom made the top and put a small breakfast bar on the side. During the process, he had me sit at the countertop to be sure the height and overhang of the seating was comfortable before he made it permanent. While upgrading the bathroom with new everything (except tub), he was always paying attention to the details. If he could improve the way something functioned, he did. That included fixing the toilet flange in the floor so the toilet didn't rock or leak any longer. Even a small thing like the placement of the locking screws in the towel bar was considered. When he saw that mildew had attacked the sheetrock over the showerhead, he insisted on cutting out that piece and replacing it with blueboard. He also doesn't go crazy and suggest that you replace an entire wall. He is considerate and recommends doing what needs to be done without stretching the project budget. In the past, I've had trouble even getting electricians to show up. Tom's crew is always happy to help. Our house is quite dark and they installed overhead lighting for us in a number of trouble spots. It meant putting wiring in a lot of places where it didn't exist, including the basement ceiling and the bedroom closet. They've been in our attic more times in the past few months than any of us have in all the time we've owned the house! If you have any "extras" to add on to the project, Tom will accommodate you whenever possible. And the length of time required to complete projects has been shorter than expected. My friends' projects always seem to take months. Mine have taken days. And the quality is excellent. He really pays attention to the details."

"It went very well. After a bit of a wait, I received a very comprehensive report of 88 specific items as well as bacteria, fungi and particles. Each Item detected over the EPA drinking water limits had an explanation sheet. Also provided was a contact person at the company to address any questions you had about the report findings. I thought the service was well worth the $300 just for the peace of mind. I intend to use the company on an annual basis going forward."

"Extremely well. Bill Bennett has been with Isaac and its predecessor for many years and knows our house and his business. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Isaac offered a special for both cleanings and tuneups for $169, and that plus tax is the price we paid."

"We noticed that when we ran our hose water was leaking from the indoor wall. Called D'Amico and they within a few hours of me calling. The tech initially was concerned that there was a water line leak, checked for that, and ruled that out. He then got to the hose bib and saw there was a small leak, got a replacement and installed that. I would happily use them again if we needed plumbing work done."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Elmira, NY

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
