"They were expensive but good. They were experienced. The price I really didn't know if that's high so it might be comparative to the people especially when they took off the old, put on brand new roof. They didn't put new wood on, but they took off the old and put on the new roof, so it was probably okay. I'm not a roofer but I'm sure that it was good. I got up to 20-year guarantee on it. I put the letter that I approved to have him to do it, and he never did get back to me at all. I had to call them like two weeks later, but what had happened, he had a big mailbox at the front of his house, I guess they didn't really use and then a regular mailbox, and I put in the big mailbox since I thought was for the roofing stuff. They never even opened that box up. So, I called up, then he went out and found that my insurance okayed it. The guys were really nice. I didn't see the owner really anymore it's the guys that work me, and they're all were nice to me."

"Drew Krueger came out because we were out of town during a storm in our area and we didn't know if our roof was hit or not. His time on our roof cost us nothing, he is very good at dealing with insurance companies, fully explained our roofs condition, and what the insurance company would do. We do not need a new roof, so he did not try to sell us one. I know Drew personally and I know his company will give you the highest quality materials and install, no matter what the insurance company is willing to do. Crown really goes to battle for you!!"

"Estimate./proposal done by Bryan. Knowledgeable and professional. Did have to reschedule appointment due to equipment problem on a job prior to my estimate. Scheduled the work with office staff (Chris) for a couple of weeks out. Got a call the afternoon before installation that they would need to move to the next day due to having to stop an attic blow in install because of rain. Very apologetic. Bryan and Tammy arrived a bit later than scheduled due to back up at the warehouse where they were picking up the spray foam tanks. Bryan and I walked through the job and made sure we both were fully aligned on the areas to be insulated. Job went smoothly and was done professionally. He did a good job of covering under a bay window to be sure it was fully insulated. Cleaned up the area very well after they were done. They use a fully automated system to schedule and sign off on the contracts. You will need to be somewhat capable technologically through smart phone, tablet or computer."

"I noticed shingles missing off my roof and several storms came through this spring. I contacted three different roofing companies to give me an estimate on what needed repaired. The first two companies both tried to tell me I needed an entire roof replacement. I contacted ferguson roofing who told me the majority of the roof was still in good shape and only need a few hundred dollars of shingle replacements. After the estimate a date was given for the work and they showed up on time and completed the job. Not only were they honest and reliable but they are huge supporters of first responders and military."

"Great, experienced, friendly crew. Came early, worked late in hot weather. Paid close attention to the details on a multisurface roof on 1800s house. Took care not to harm landscaping and did great cleanup at the end of each day. Stuck by the original and lowest estimate and delivered as scheduled. Guaranteed not to leak. Would definitely recommend Jack's roofing."

"Scott, the salesman, was very nice when he came out. He explained the cheaper windows to me, but also explained the benefit of triple pane, which I decided to go with in the end. They look much nicer than my old windows, working well beyond my initial expectations on the first heating bill. The trim work was flawless. Danny and the crew were courteous and clean. The office staff was also very helpful. <br /> <br /> They completed my roof a year ago, just finished up with my windows, and just I will be calling them back in the future for new siding and gutters. It's been truly great to work with them."

"Contracted firm to do this work late last summer. They were not able to get to the roof then but they did come out and performed a much needed repair. When they knew they would not get to me until 2015, the firm let me know. I was concerned what would happen over the winter if there were problems and the rep let me know that they would address any problems free of charge. There were no problems over the winter and they contacted me early to let me know I would be the first customer of the spring. A full crew came on site to perform the work. They were very professional and explained how the process would work. In addition they texted me pictures of the progress. The finished the job early and cleaned up very well. I have no complaints and would recommend the company. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"Perfect. I enjoyed getting to sit in the storm shelters at their showroom to help with size selection. After signing up for the install, they connect you to an online portal to manage the contract and to update building permit number, etc. Installation was prompt and clean."

"We signed our contract and placed the order in late-September 2018. The contracted materials order and quoted project cost were guaranteed for one-year. We initially planned having the door and arch window replaced in November 2018,; however, when the install team came out they reaccomplished measurements and realized the initial measurements for the arch window were off. We decided to preclude installation of just the door & casement, and had the company resubmit the measurements for the arch window and reorder a new window. The install was rescheduled, but weather precluded the install. We were able to conclude the install in early-spring 2019. The install went very smoothly. Very professionally done. Front entry opening was only open for about 20-30 minutes during the swap out of the front entry. Arch window went smoothly. Whole project only took about 3 hours. Very pleased with the installation. Would recommend Midwest to friends for their needed home improvement projects. As a retired military officer, I was also pleased to get a military discount for the project."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Elsah, IL

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
