"Heavy Duty Concrete and Pavers really did a great job for me. They were always on time and super hard workers. The finished job really looks great. 70 feet of concrete with stairs up to the grass and a retaining wall next to it. I highly recommend them."

"It was absolutely amazing to work Mauricio. Last year we asked for a bid to have a concrete driveway and our porch area fixed. Mauricio gave us a great bid yet we decided to wait and to pavers this year. I’m so glad we did. I think the pictures speak volumes. Mauricio was wonderful to work with. He understood that waiting would allow us to do the pavers. His bid was timely. His timetable was kept. The budget remained intact and the work is superb. I cannot say enough about Mauricio and his workers. I love the way our front yard is looking -"

"Concrete flooring is a unique idea, and not many people were willing to take on the job. I probably called a dozen contractors and had difficulty finding anyone willing. Cary and Jon gave us a fair estimate (which was in the middle range of the three that I received), and stuck to it. Concrete can be scary because you never know what is below your floors, and the prep work is overwhelming. The house was vacant, which helped, but it still took 8 full days to complete the job. The crew was meticulous and worked extremely hard. They went through many details to make sure that the floors looked perfect, and the price included some custom stain work in the main entry to the home as well as new concrete in our kitchen, bathrooms, and a 4 inch border around the entire house. <br /> I know $7,500 is a big chunk of change, but honestly, home depot charges about $3 per sf to remove tile, and another $2 and something to put it down, plus the cost of tile and grout, so in the long run, I think it's worth it. We have a beautiful custom floor that needs only be cleaned with a wet mop, hides dirt very well, looks shiny and modern, and NO GROUT TO CLEAN.  <br /> Like I said, they stand behind their work, and once you contract with them, they stick it out even if more time and effort is needed to do the job right. In other words, no surprise additional fees that pop up after the job starts. I highly recommend them. <br />"

"They arrived with all the equipment needed to do the job. All the employees worked very hard to get the job done in a timely manner. Everyone was very polite and the owners worked as hard as their employees. Our driveway now looks complete. Our neighbors came out to see what all the commotion was about and one had the work done to his driveway after ours was done that day, and another had his done the next day."

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Empire, NV

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
