Small jobs welcome

"I can not say enough good things about Big Dog Handyman Services! We were in the middle of a high-stress, time-sensitive scramble to get our house ready to list, and one big project still loomed?a shower that needed plumbing adjustments and an insert installation. It had been on our to-do list forever, always pushed down by more urgent tasks. Enter Big Dog Handyman Services. From the very first interaction, they were responsive, kind, and professional. They understood the urgency of our situation and managed to fit us in the same week?which felt like a miracle. The work was completed quickly and beautifully, just in time for our listing photos. Their craftsmanship and efficiency lifted such a huge weight off our shoulders. And as a bonus? My Corgi, who is notoriously picky about who she lets in her domain, gave them two paws up. That is the ultimate seal of approval in our house. Thank you, Big Dog team, for saving the day with grace and good humor. You will be the first we call!"

"Ken Osborne with The Memory Mender did an excellent job! The nightstand looks like new, even though it is 56 years old with much wear and tear. You can't tell where the piece of wood was missing. Ken has my highest recommendation to anyone looking for woodwork refinishing. As a matter of fact, I am taking him some more pieces of furniture to be done."

"DJ came the day after I called and was very reassuring. He completely explained what would be done and the differences between finishes. He was able to schedule us to our convenience right away. Mark showed up on time, took extreme care with our baseboards and making sure surfaces were taped off and sealed from dust. He was friendly and professional; obviously knew what he was doing. Our jaws dropped when we saw the results. It's incredibly beautiful and far exceeded our expectations!"

"This company was a pleasure to work with -- from the time of initial planning and estimate until completion. They are very professional, personable -- and (best yet) gave us good advice, while listening to us and building the deck we needed. They were flexible and accommodated changes identified as the deck became a reality. Additionally, they installed a much-needed french drain. We are an extremely satisfied customer."

"David came out right away to give an estimate and I had the estimate the following day. He was very personable and made sure to tell us a little about himself, his company, and his coworker Zach. We compared estimates and decided to go with David with scheduled work starting on July 28.
David, Zach, and Todd showed up July 28 around 8am. I was told that they had another job that they needed to finish up so Todd would be there all day and David/Zach would be back later.  I ran them through some of the additional work requests that were not included in the original estimate(re-tiling patch in shower, several more patches from the plumbers, baseboard). Received an estimate later that day and they even worked with us by using some left over materials from a previous  job to help lower the cost.
We stopped by mostly every day, and at least one person was there anywhere between 7-8am and 6-7pm to get things done. There was a miscommunication early on regarding when they would be finished (initially was Thursday, then got pushed back to Saturday), but was able to reschedule all my other contractors so ended up not being a problem.  They also made sure to tell us of any issues they came across (downstairs drywall was pretty affected by the asbestos removal so gave options of just replace whole thing or fix). Really great about giving us quotes right away and not altering that figure after the fact.
Overall, I think they all did a great job. They were all friendly and personable to talk to, took great care in protecting our floors, and kept us apprised of things as they went...all for a reasonable price.
Note: Asbestos ceiling removal is pretty intensive and to repair the ceiling after the fact is even more so. We had not planned on repainting, but in order to smooth out the corners between the ceiling and wall, the mud came down about 1 foot (vs a couple of inches).

"Shay did a fantastic job installing our new retractable awning. It looks great and he is a pleasure to work with. He’s reliable, prompt and reasonably priced. We had previously hired him to repair some stuck windows and we definitely recommend him."

"I sent an email to Kenny Anderson and told him what I needed.  Angela came to the house and made notes of what I wanted done, took measuresments, pictures and made sketches   Kenny called the next day and we discussed exactly what I wanted done and the materials that I wanted.  The start day for the job was July 11, 2011.  John and another worker came to the house on time and ready to work.  They were working under adverse conditions as we were having a problem getting the power on.  They were basically working in a dark cave, but since they are professionals they knew how to hande the situation.  The tub was installed and the cement backer board was installled.  The next day Jesse arrived to start the tile work in the surround.  The whole job was completed midday Friday.  The tile surround is perfection.  I gave them a sample of the tile that we had used on a previous house as a color reference.  The tile Anderson's brought out was perfect.  It was a better tile and color than the one that I gave them.  Jesse is a master with tile.  The surround is absolutely beautiful.
The window is a large window, approximately 8 feet wiide.  One half of it had what looked like a beebe hole in it.  It is on order and will be replaced when the new one comes in.
Anderson's workers are professional all the way.  They have worked together for years and are in sync when they are working on a job.
Thanks Kenny, you came through again."

FAQs for baseboard installation projects in Enumclaw, WA

Installing crown molding can be challenging, depending on the material and your skill level. Lightweight materials like polystyrene and softwoods are easier for homeowners to install themselves, offering a cost-saving option. However, heavier materials like hardwoods and plaster are difficult to work with and require professional installation to achieve a high-quality result. Precision is crucial in measuring, cutting, and fitting crown molding, so hiring a professional ensures the best outcome.

Crown molding is available at various price points, ranging from $1 to $30 per linear foot, depending on the material. This wide range offers options for every budget. Affordable materials like MDF, PVC, and polystyrene provide cost-effective solutions, while premium materials like exotic hardwoods or metal offer a luxurious appearance at a higher cost. Regardless of your budget, you can find crown molding that enhances your home's aesthetic.

Crown molding is installed by professional finish carpenters or painters who specialize in detailed trim work. These experts possess the necessary skills and tools to ensure precise measurements, accurate cuts, and seamless installation. By hiring a professional, you can achieve a flawless finish that enhances your home's aesthetic appeal without the risk of common DIY mistakes.

Crown molding can be installed in various areas of your house to add elegance and architectural interest. It is commonly used where walls meet the ceiling, but you can also place crown molding around doors, windows, mirrors, and atop cabinets. Installing crown molding in these locations enhances visual appeal, creates a cohesive design, and adds a touch of sophistication to your home's interior.

To determine how much crown molding to purchase, start by measuring the length of each wall where you plan to install crown molding and add the measurements together to determine the total linear feet required. Purchase an extra 10% of material to account for waste from cutting angles and to ensure seamless joints by using full-length pieces when possible. Including additional material helps avoid shortages and ensures a smooth installation process.

For a professional crown molding installer, this task takes about 1 to 3 hours per room, depending on size and complexity. Factors like the material, design intricacy, and number of corners can affect the time. If you're doing it yourself, expect it to take longer as you get the hang of measuring and cutting precise angles. Advanced measuring and planning or hiring a pro can help the project go smoothly.
