"They were very responsive on getting me an estimate quickly. They were very competitive with their estimate and put everything requested in writing. They were about 2 months out when I placed our deposit down. They stuck to the dates given to do the new install. (Weather worked with us on this). Our roof has several ridges, valleys, and dormers and is approx 41 square. Competitors were giving me completion time of 5-8 days to replace. Leon’s told me 2 days which I’ll admit I thought Ill believe it when I see it. They showed up on Wednesday at 8 am with 10+ guys worked until 6 pm and had half of the roof replaced already. There was even a few spots that needed re-sheeted. They cleaned up extremely well even though they were coming back the next day. Again they showed up at 8 and completed the job by 6:30. Totally amazed at the work they did and how timely they were. Final clean up also impressed me. You would have no idea we just replaced our roof by walking around our house or looking in our landscaped beds. Truly a one of a kind operation!!"

"Gunner Roofing has an excellent team that completed my house siding project. As certified installers of James Hardie, they were professional from start to finish! Andrew was extremely knowledgeable of the product and created a spectacular design and assisted w/ the financing of my project. He was always available to answer all questions. The Project Manager Anthony communicated daily with project updates and was extremely responsive to questions and addressed all concerns in a timely manner. The workers were exceptional as they always arrived early and worked late to ensure completion of the work. Really appreciated their attention to detail! I highly recommend this company!"

"Scot arrived when he said he would (quote and job), did what he said he would, and cleaned up well afterward. Better experience than the last time I had a roof replaced by a different contractor. Scot was recommended by a retired roofer I know, and I'm glad we took that advice."

"After coming home on a Friday evening to puddles of water on the floor, I called all-weather and left a frantic message. The next morning, a Saturday, the owner himself came to my rescue. He sent a crew to repair the leak, the cost of which was then deducted from the cost of the new roof that he later installed. A year or so later he then replaced 5 of my windows. All three jobs were done quickly, professionally, and with great respect for my home."

"I was recommended to call Angelo's Roofing after discovering the loose roof shingles on my lawn. My call was answered by Andy & he saved the day !! He sent workers over that very day to patch my roof & calm my fears of leaks. Who does that in today's world & he was so very pleasant to talk to. I so appreciate his advise & speed. I requested a new roof and the paperwork followed shortly. I am in line to have it replaced within the month. Thank you so very much ANDY from Angelo's Roofing. So very grateful to you and your company !"

"I notified them via their website internet contact form, they called back very timely, and came out and discussed the job the very next day! <br />   <br /> We're going to have additional work in the spring (much topsoil to be removed due to Ph from Hemlock trees, levelling, new lawn, paver seating area and walk, ornamental trees) and wanted to remove the remains from stump grinding of two large trees (as they decompose) and wanted to fill the mess and stabilize the area. I asked about grass planting, etc., and we agreed the grass wouldn't do very well due to the lateness of the season. (I'll plant some sort of grass and get what I get until it will be all removed in the spring.)  <br />   <br /> Although I was at work, when I came home, the job was all finished except for cleanup which was being done. Equipment included two hard working laborers, a pickup/trailer and a skid steer, plus whatever they used to remove grinds and deliver dirt (that had already been done when I got home). <br />   <br /> The results? The area (20'x10' ish) is now flat and level, and ready for my temporary grass planting. Cleanup was extremely thorough, all debris removed from our yard and adjacent neighbor's driveway, and they even used a leaf blower and removed remaining chips from neighbors driveway (most of which were from tree removal, not their work)! Excess dirt on street leaf blown and swept. <br />   <br /> Happy?  YES! Can't wait until winter planning of next step! <br />"

"Bert returned my call within a few hours. We scheduled a time for him to come, but when it rained he promptly called and rescheduled. He was on time, professional, polite and had the job completed to my satisfaction. <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Erie, PA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
