"Bert was the easiest contractor I have ever worked with. His
communication skills and professionalism are above all. I have never
seen anyone take such care to keep a work area so neat and tidy in
between working times as Bert. He kept extra special care to keep dust
out of the rest of the room while repairing water damage to our plaster
walls by setting up floor to ceiling plastic barriers. He even put
tacky board down to step away from the work site onto plastic runners
over the carpeting so as not to leave any dust. When Bert was gone for
the evening, you did not know he had been there! His work is
meticulous. He is on time to just about the second to when he says he
will be on the job. He communicates by email or phone to confirm dates
and times. If you have any questions he is happy to answer. I only
wish I could have Bert do work on the house I am purchasing in Indiana.
Bert has a waiting list, so if you want to have him do work for you,
plan ahead!
"

"
I contacted B. Davis Enterprises to renovate an outbuilding on my property. The second floor of the building was structurally sound but the first floor dilapidated and in need of removal. Brent Davis responded to my call the same day, came out that evening to survey the task, and appeared the next day with an estimate for the job. I agreed and work on the building was initiated within another day.

Brent?s plan was to support the structurally sound second floor then use a crane to lower it to ground level after demolition and removal of the dilapidated first floor. The lowered second floor would then serve as basis for a one-story building to be outfitted with siding of hemlock board, windows, and ramp and door wide enough to admit my lawn care equipment. Shelving and a pull-down ladder to a loft area would be installed. Finally, an area to store firewood open on the sides but covered by a roof would be attached at the rear of the building.

A work crew of six to eight members worked on the building all day from early in the morning to early in the evening for a week. Brent was on site frequently to supervise or perform work himself. My suggestions were solicited and I was invited to watch the work in progress.

I was very pleased when the project was completed. The building appears as if it were newly constructed. The carpentry work is of high quality. I believe the agreed price was reasonable and fair. I definitely plan to contact B. Davis Enterprises in future when I have work to be done.

"

"Got the entire job complete in one day which I was pleased with. Explained the entire process and answered any questions I may have in the future regarding this system. Did a great job in the basement, everything looks excellent, and was done efficiently. Only complaint is they dumped some excess concrete down by my fence in the backyard. That should have been put in their truck.
"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Erie, PA

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
