"Thomas was professional, prompt and provided us with a great patio. Thomas explained the pricing and capabilities up front. Within 24hrs from the initial consult he proved a written proposal and was able to start within a reasonable amount of time. Thomas and his staff showed up on time repeatedly, communicated the steps of the project and best of all provided us with a great quality concrete patio extension. I would HIGHLY recommend Thomas and River Runners Construction for your next project!"

"James Pollard and his crew did an great job removing old driveway and putting in a new driveway. The entire crew worked very hard and know their craft well. I highly recommend James Pollard construction. This type of work is physically very hard and when I had it done the temperature was high. The clean up afterward could have been a bit better."

"Tallents was very busy, and it took a month or more to get the work started.  I wanted the steps to be 5 inch rise and 12 inch depth.  They had no problem re-thinking the plan.  I needed a 5' x 6' landing.  I also wanted an easy-grip handrail. Everything was built to code of treated pine.  My wife and I are very-well pleased with the outcome, and I plan to contact Tallents with a bigger job in 2015. <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Evans, GA

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
