"Honest Review of Faithful Roofing & Masonry I want to share my honest experience with Faithful Roofing & Masonry. From the very first conversation to the moment the job was done, Martino and his wife, Victoria, made me feel like I truly mattered — not just another customer or profit. Martino was professional and genuine from the start. He told me their top priority is their clients, making sure they get the best experience possible. He also said it’s not about the money for him — it’s about helping people. Both Martino and Victoria are very spiritual and believe they’re here to do God’s work, and I could really feel that in how they treated me. Things have been tough lately, and they personally reached out to assure me not to worry. They worked with me to make sure my home would be protected before the winter. I had a new roof put on a year ago but needed new gutters because water was seeping into my house. They helped me stay within my budget and still get quality work done — they truly saved my home! Their team was friendly, professional, and always on time. The finished work looks amazing — the pictures speak for themselves. Other companies I spoke with made me feel like just another job, but Faithful Roofing & Masonry treated me with compassion and respect. I highly recommend them for any roofing, siding, masonry, or window/door work. They treat your home like it’s their own, and that kind of care is hard to find these days. Thank you, Martino and Victoria, for making this such a positive and stress-free experience! I’ll definitely be calling you again soon for more work."

"I had an outstanding experience with Nicholas Roofing & Tuckpointing. They completed brick and stone repair work on my home, and the results were absolutely exceptional. From the very beginning, their team was professional, knowledgeable, and efficient. They quickly assessed the damage, explained everything clearly, and got the job done with precision. The craftsmanship was top-tier ? the repaired areas blend perfectly with the original brick and stone, and you can?t even tell there was ever an issue. They worked neatly, cleaned up all debris, and made sure every detail was perfect before finishing. If you?re looking for a reliable, honest, and highly skilled company for any roofing, masonry, brick, or stone repair, I highly recommend Nicholas Roofing & Tuckpointing. They truly are one of the best and deliver quality you can trust I will definitely use them for any future repairs."

"I contacted R.K. Roofing to ask them to help with some minor roof repairs (gutters, vent stack pipe) and to ask them to assess the current condition of the roof. At every step of the way Jerry was responsive, communicative, and honest. He gave me an honest assessment of the roof's remaining life and didn't at all try to pressure me into any unneeded work - he and his crew also identified a small leak near one of the attic vents that could have become a much bigger problem and fixed it professionally and affordably. I will definitely go with R.K. Roofing again for my future roofing needs - no problems whatsoever, just a straightforward, positive experience from start to finish."

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Evanston, IL

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
