"Excellent workmanship, great natured team. Last minute changes were made because of my inexperience. Designer Concrete responded within 15 minutes of my Angies job submission. Rome had the job done within 4 days of initial contact and it looks great. The team tolerated my 3 large breed dogs really well (they all own dogs, so there were plenty of wet noses in their 'business'. Although you'll pay the price for travel, it's well worth it to escape mediocre Kitsap County concrete work."

"Island concrete did a great job for us. They installed retaining walls of concrete and block, curbs, walkways and a pickleball court. They were a good value and professional. We would hire them again."

"From the first contact to request a bid until the final cleanup, Rich (the owner) and his crew at All Concrete Surfaces demonstrated the utmost in professionalism. Communication was excellent, we always knew what to expect. They completely took care of the burdensome Seattle permit process. Their skill in demolition, grading, pouring and concrete finishing is unsurpassed; our new driveway is perfect. We have never been more pleased in dealing with any contractor."

"I don't normally review places, but New Life Rockeries did such a wonderful job transforming my backyard that I just had to write up my thoughts for other potential customers. When I reached out to them, Bobby quickly responded and came out to my property to take a look at and assess the project. He was thorough and really listened to what I wanted to do with my yard. I had to put the project on hold due to a difficult HOA and neighbor, but when I got back to them and was ready to proceed, they were on it without delay. Bobby and Flor came back out to set things up, and they are both friendly and professional. Flor was the absolute best and was very easy to talk to. Any little anxious concern I had she promptly addressed (like the gate latch being moved up a few inches). The crew was respectful of my property, and I have never in my life been so impressed with how hard-working and meticulous they were with completing my retainer wall and fence in just a matter of days. Highly recommen"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Everett, WA

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
