"I've used 2nd Street Painting for several projects. 1) A whole house painting including ceiling, trim and doors. 2) Painting kitchen & bath cabinets. 3) Deck and fence staining. 4) Most recently a bath refresh that not only included painting, but Nate also arranged for an employee, Josh, to remove and hang new light fixtures and mirrors. Josh was exceptional to work with. Each experience was outstanding. Nate and his team are courteous, on time, professional and do an excellent job. The quotes are reasonable and always spot on. I would hire them for any painting job and highly recommend them to others. "

FAQs for small projects painting or staining projects in Fairmount, IL

You'll need about two gallons of paint to fully cover your kitchen cabinets with two coats. Since each gallon covers around 350 square feet, it's a good idea to measure your cabinets or use a paint calculator to determine exactly how much you'll need. Starting with one or two coats of primer and then applying two to three layers of paint will give you a flawless, durable finish. Using high-quality paint can reduce the number of coats needed and provide a long-lasting finish.

The best type of paint for your kitchen cabinets is latex paint because it applies evenly and creates a durable finish. If you're painting wood surfaces and need extra adhesion, acrylic paint is a great alternative. We don't recommend oil-based paint for residential use due to its VOC emissions. For finishes, go with eggshell, semi-gloss, gloss, or satin, as matte finishes aren't as durable or as easy to clean.

The best method for painting kitchen cabinets is spray painting because it gives you a smooth, even finish without brush strokes. While brushes and rollers can work, they often leave marks and require more effort. If you're aiming for a professional look, spray painting is your best bet to enhance the beauty and durability of your cabinets.
