"<strong>Why We Choose Ed</strong> <br /> We had been looking for a plumber for around a month when we found Ed. We had several plumbing projects but one in particular that was bothersome. We?ve had a toilet flange that has been problematic for years. It was not flush to the floor causing our toilet to rock, which eventually caused the flange to break. Recently we tried to install a new toilet using the broken flange and decided we needed to have it fixed. <br /> Many of the plumbers we called immediately said that we would probably have to chip up the concrete in our basement floor to <br /> countersink the flange. This was worrisome to us as we had concerns about what future damage that might cause to our concrete subfloor. Also, we had concerns that if we wanted to install tile later on that the flange might end up too low below the floor to be effective. <br /> Ed?s response to our concerns was very practical and reassuring. He let us know that he couldn?t effectively evaluate the issue until he saw the toilet and that to truly know what flange solution would be appropriate he would have to remove the old flange. <br /> <strong>Ed?s Solution</strong> <br /> Needless to say we had Ed out and he was great. He removed the old flange, determined that a normal flange would still be too tall and wouldn?t allow the toilet to sit flush to the floor. Ed ended up installing metal rings that he bolted into the concrete subfloor. (A product he has used in his own home.) These rings weren?t as tall as a normal plastic flange and the bolts he used to secure the rings to the floor were much less destructive than having to chip out concrete to counter sink the flange.  Plus, we can use the flange as is if we ever decide to install a tile floor. <br /> Thanks Ed. We?re so happy to have a working bathroom again. <br /> <strong>Pricing</strong> <br /> We got several quotes and felt Ed?s pricing was very competitive if not slightly more affordable than most. <br /> <strong>Ladies Looking for a Plumber</strong> <br /> I work from home so I am typically the one hiring and letting vendors into our home to do repairs. (As well as coordinating repairs <br /> for our rental properties.) Finding professionals that I am comfortable with is always a priority. Ed is great! He is very much the loveable grandfather everyone wishes they had. Except he?s even better because he?s a great plumber! <br /> <strong>Who Are We?</strong> <br /> My husband and I are both professionals who also manage several rental properties in our spare time. <br /> <br />"

"The LaMartina Company did a fantastic job on a complex repair situation involving 3 floors of my house.  I was so pleased with their promptness, professionalism, competence, and friendliness. From now on, they are my "go-to" plumbing company! (By the way, the LaMartina Company on Picadilly is a different company from the Tony LaMartina Company.  Don't be confused!) <br />"

"They could have completed the job completely. They took pieces of it apart but they did not put those back together. I had the son of the maintenance guy put them back together. I'm just complaining about the completion of the whole job but the quality, workmanship, and everything were fine."

"We worked with the owner of the company, Paul Lohmann, who came to our house to help us determine job requirements. DKI works with residential and commercial and has a variety of cost options available. After reviewing product sketches and materials, we chose a custom wood White Shaker Style cabinet. The installation consisted of two cabinets with a custom make-up table in between, all with color coordinated custom Cambria Quartz tops and splashes. (We chose the Cambria color to be used.) The drawers are all dove tailed and both the drawers and cabinet doors are soft close. We chose the sinks and DKI provided and installed. We provided our own new faucets and pulls which DKI installed. DKI also provided a matching over the toilet cabinet. Paul also suggested a subcontractor that he uses to assist his staff in installation, to provide a quote and do the installation for the herringbone tile pattern we chose and the new toilet. (We chose this subcontractor and provided the tile and chose the toilet.) We were amazed that the whole job-- removal, provide and install new cabinets, faucets, sinks, flooring, and toilet were all completed in one week. (The cabinets and top pieces were completed ahead of time.) The workmanship, quality, cooperation between subcontractor and DKI staff, and overall competence of staff were outstanding. They all cared about meeting/exceeding customer expectations. We were very pleased with the finished product and reasonable cost and highly recommend their services."

"Great they did some testing to determine the issue. After flushing the system with water, there was no additional service needed. I offered to pay for their time but they would take my money. They will be my first and only call next time."

"I had Christopher Custom Kit & Bath come out to give me a bid on my bathroom. We got their name from our the PJ who <br /> did the tile in our kitchen.. who by the way.. did a great job.. Talented guy... <br /> I saw the fotos of their previous work and was really impressed... <br /> They came out straight away. They were very professional, responsive and <br /> punctual.  Although in the end we choice to use a dif company, I still <br /> wanted to write a review to let others know how nice they were and how much I <br /> appreciated their time & expertise. I wouldn't hesitate to have Joe & <br /> the gang in our home & would consider having them bid out another project <br /> for us in the future. :-) <br />"

"I called All Star after 5PM on 3/6/2014, because I had sewage backing up into my basement. Steve from All Star arrived within 2 hours, used 120' of chain (from the ROOF, in the DARK on a cold night) and solved the problem. He was tidy, polite, and absolutely dogged about getting the job done. I would highly recommend this company and Steve in particular. Great job, fair price ($200 for two hours of night work), and we will know who to call first if this ever happens again."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Farmington, MO

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
