"Excellent job.  Service was done at my house, so I didn't have to bring the furniture to them, or be without it for any period of time.  Erick was very professional and did an excellent job.  Would definitely use their services in the future and recommend them. <br />"

"I needed to do a complete overhaul of two baths that were new in 1965. Kitchen and Bath Studio was very helpful in planning and estimating the work and spent plenty of time with me in the showroom to select all items that would be installed - tile, fixtures, toilets, countertops, cabinets, sinks, lighting fixtures, paint to complement counters and tile, etc. The crew was excellent and precise in their work, and the results are lovely! See pictures attached."

"He did a wonderful job. And one time, the door to the cabinet fell off. It was the door on the cabinet that we had put in the new shelving, so I called him and told him what had happened. He said, 'Do exactly what I tell you to do and if that doesn't fix it, I will be right there'. So, I put my son on the phone, my son got the instructions, he went and fixed it. It has been fine ever since.  He is really good. In fact, we have a home in Florida, I am going down there in another month and I am going to have the  same company do the cabinets down there too. Two years ago he came and put in all the ShelfGenie type shelving. They pull out, so I can stand next to the shelf and pull it out, load it up and push it back in. Same with my pantry, I no longer have a pantry that you have to dig in and out of, I just stand next to it, pull out the shelf, get what  need to and push it back in. It was expensive but it has been worth it. I have a herniated disc in my back, so getting things in and out of shelves is very hard. It made life beautiful. For most people especially young couples, I think this would not be something I would suggest them doing, but for older people this is really an A. You just have to have this done. When he was caught up in a job somewhere else, he called me.  So he did, every 15 minutes he would call me and say,  ''I am still here but I am coming'."

"Issue #1: Started at first meeting in October 2014. Salesperson did NOT and consistently DID NOT HEAR what i was describing to him. Even with a wood sample.  He kept going on and on and the quality of their work. So, to save $10,000 in buying new cabinets we decided upon this option. <br /> Issue #2: Another person came out to finalize the measurements. Apparently Salesperson #1 did not LISTEN to what we wanted with replacing the drawers. They were just going to reface them. This would have left the drawers looking and working unbalanced and uneven and interiors being worn and ugly compared to the rest of the  "new stuff".  Salesperson #2 said it would be $450 extra to replace all the drawers with new ones. Wow. Ok. I needed them to work and look good. My old drawers have become crooked - since they were installed in 1988. I don't know WHY Salesperson #1 didn't suggest that at the initial meeting. <br /> Issue #3: We were to receive samples of the wood we chose and the color we chose. At the initial meeting, we told Salesperson #1 that we wanted a stain with grain showing, not a flat paint! We said this at least 3 times. What do we get as a sample????? Yes, a FLAT painted piece of wood with no grain showing. So, it takes another 2 1/2  weeks to get another sample. <br /> Issue #4: Approved sample. It is now the end of November! They said they wouldn't be able to come install until January! Yes, it took 3 MONTHS for this process start to finish. I could have received NEW cabinets in 6 weeks. <br /> Issue #5: Installation time. They had to build a new cabinet for over the refrigerator. It was clearly CROOKED! The bottom of the cabinet was 1 inch wider by the time you got to the top of the cabinet! AND where  the inside hinges were there clearly was a mistake and was all GNARLED up on the inside! HOW could a "craftsmen" leave such an obvious mess of a creation and not expect us to NOTICE??!?!? Seriously?!  It looked like something a high school shop student did.  We told them to replace the whole thing <br /> Issue #6: They did not tell us during the initial visit that the build-ups of the cabinets to reach the ceilings were just FRAMES! The interior and the back (wall exposed) were not finished. Now the inside of the top shelf of my cabinets are the ugly burnt orange color of the previous paint job. I could have painted that if i had known it would be showing!!!!!!! <br /> Issue #7: Upon final inspection 3 of the drawers were WAY off color to the rest of the cabinets. It looked like they were missing a coat of stain!!!! So, they ordered and replaced them  2 weeks later. <br /> Issue #8: We were provided a can of paint to paint the inside edges of the inside of the frames of the cabinets to match the outside.. really? I have to actually do work  on the cabinets i paid  $15,000 for ????!! <br /> The craftsmanship was definately was under par for what they told us. It seemed like they just wanted to get in and out without really taking a step back and looking at the work. Things still are uneven, but can't do anything b/c the laminate is glued down.  Salesperson didn't even follow up the week the workers were here to check how things were going. Once he received the check, he didn't care. <br /> If I had to make the decision over again, i DEFINITELY would have gone with NEW cabinets. I could have received them in 6 weeks, instead of a total of 3 1/2 months, consistent color, better workmanship and a lot less headaches. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"We went to the store to get some design suggestions and a quote. Ray, the owner was very helpful and discussed various options. He came out to our home that same evening and took careful measurements.  He was flexible with our requirements and at no point did he push us to buy more.   He gave us a very competitive quote. <br /> There were four separate crews that did the work.  Each crew specializes in what they do, e.g. the granite crew only does granite work.  They were on time, did the job exactly as described, and even went out of their way to accomodate minor changes, for example when they had to trim the door to fit.  <br /> The job was done on time, and to a very high standard.  Very impressive. <br />"

"Alex was FANTASTIC! He helped us design our kitchen layout and made recommendations. He never tried to oversell us and was very frank...which I have a GREAT appreciation for! He was at the house when the cabinets were being delivered and stopped in during installation. If you have concerns or aren't entirely happy with something he will make it right as quickly as possible. We have worked with a number of contractors and no one has come close to his level of customer service. He even brought us a bottle of wine and cheese when it was finished:)"

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Fort Myer, VA

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
