"We received an initial quote from Harris & Co. based on a recommendation from a coworker to replace a backyard deck with a stone patio. I received three quotes from various contractors. Harris's quote was the most expensive but I went with Joshua Harris's company anyway for the following reasons: * Joshua had a complete treatment that included landscaping (which ultimately I did not do), pavers, lowering of the ground, demolition, fire pit, and seating wall. * They were responsive, using text and email and replying promptly. * Joshua Harris had a better vision for the project than I did! He envisioned a wall, lighting, making the patio extremely large (due to the limited space in the backyard, he thought that leaving a bit of grass would be pretty pointless). Ultimately, it was the completeness of the vision that drew me to use his service. Since he does landscaping, lighting, and tons of stuff, Joshua will give you a pretty complete treatment. This costs you. I think that you get what you pay for, but it's something to keep in mind. If you have a budget, keep your discipline and see what aspects that you can go without! That all said, we went all out for this project and added a long wall, accent pavers, a large fire pit, and lighting. This was an extremely expensive project for us, but it's been worth it as the end result is rather beautiful and makes the space much more usable. Before, we wouldn't even leave out the back door because the deck was so small and the yard was so dreary, but the large 28' stone patio makes the space inviting and easy to walk across, even when we're not entertaining. As for the work, I was impressed by the amount of communication that was provided. They contacted me almost every day to let me know if they were going to arrive to work and informed me if circumstances (usually rain, sometimes illness) affected the schedule. Joshua was overall very professional. There were occasionally circumstances though that affected what could be done at any point - for example a certain model of lamp I requested wasn't available, so I had to get a different one; in another case one of the bulbs burned out and I had to reach out to get it replaced. The final thing is that Joshua follows through. The mulch for the back was delayed due to an inventory issue and I hadn't heard from him after the work for a number of weeks, but then he called me when the items came back in and scheduled the follow-up. The point is: if you need something from him, don't be afraid to reach out. The work was quite costly but I think that you get what you pay for and when you go with Harris & Co., you get a lot."

"We have lived in our house for nearly seven years and have been at the mercy of the landscaping the former owner did before moving out. We were finally in a position of being able to majorly overhaul both the front yard and the back yard and we consulted Angie's List for a reputable landscaper. After reading reviews from other customers, we decided to have Rad come to our house for an estimate. My knowledge of landscaping is abysmal, so it was nice to have someone as knowledgeable as Rad. I gave him a general idea of what I wanted the front & back yard to look like and he asked me a number of questions about what to leave/take/prune/trim to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. The scheduling was extremely easy, the turn-around time was fast, and the price was definitely reasonable! <br /> It took 2 guys three 8-hour days to complete all of the things we had hired Turf Master Inc. to do. The guys were extremely prompt (7:30 am all three days - we could have set our watches to it!), extremely courteous, and extremely hardworking. If they had any questions or wanted to double-check what to leave/remove, etc., they politely knocked on the door to ask. I wish I had <br /> taken before & after photos because the transformation is unbelievable! In the front yard, they removed bushes, pruned trees, did a general clean-up, laid down mulch, and laid down sod to replace the horribly overgrown weeds. In the back yard, they did a LOT of weed-whacking (although our back yard gets little sun, the weeds grow like, well, weeds!), they took down an old swing set, removed extra wood, removed junk/debris, trimmed dead branches off our huge oak tree, and removed little saplings that were growing along our fence line. In addition, they built up the existing wooden perimeter in the back and filled it in with playground mulch for a play space. <br /> Prior to having this work done by Turf Master Inc., we were debating about whether to sell our house or stay because we wanted a yard for our children to play in. I can truly say that after all of these changes, I have fallen in love with our house all over again!!! Our front yard has been complimented by so many people within the past week. And our back yard is so big now! We will never hesitate to recommend Turf Master Inc. for landscaping needs. Also, Rad quickly stopped by this week just to make sure everything was going well with the new sod. What a great guy!
