John from the start was very personable and listen to our ideas attentively. He explain the process and said he would definitely be able to achieve our goal. My husband and I agreed right away we would choose Vinyard’s for our project. John showed good knowledge in his business, he was very professional all the way though. "Listen to me: Hire Rusty Crain Concrete & Excavation for any concrete work and/or landscaping you need for your home or business. I was building a pool in my backyard earlier this year (February 2021), and after the pool was put in place, I had to wait for my pool builder’s concrete crew to secure the concrete and have availability to pour the concrete decking. Fast-forward to July, and there was still no movement on completing the project. Rusty and his crew then stepped in and were pouring concrete within a week of contacting him. My backyard was a fiberglass pool surrounded by a huge gravel pit before Rusty got involved – and as I write this in late October of 2021, it still may have been without Rusty’s connections and expertise. Pictures of the before-and-after are attached to this review. I cannot say enough good things about Rusty and the people who work for him (Alonzo and Alfredo are unbelievable and INCREDIBLY good at what they do). They framed and poured my pool deck – and broke down the forms – all in 1 day. It looks so good! While they were finishing up on the concrete, I asked Rusty if he could recommend any good landscaper to help turn the rest of my yard into a livable space – and he said, “Yeah… ME.” So, we talked over the vision I had for my backyard, and he came back a little while after the deck was finished to take measurements and sketch out a plan. When I tell you that the completed project was EXACTLY as I envisioned it in my head, I’m being 100% honest. He truly is a magician with a concrete wand. Here’s the deal: We all are apprehensive about having contract work done on our home or business. It’s nerve-wracking and we don’t want to get ripped-off on a job – especially if it turns out we don’t like it. Rusty is not the cheapest guy out there, and for good reason. He will explain every detail, be there at the site every single day, be able to change things on the fly to make sure you’re totally happy, and he’ll come back and check on the completed job as often as you’d like until you’re comfortable or just have any questions about how things turned out. I honestly could not be happier with the work he did for me. There’s not a tangible price I can put on peace of mind. Just to put a tidy little bow on this review about Rusty Crain: his wife is a literal competitive body builder; his oldest son is a veteran and served as an active-duty Marine; his other son was an undersized middle-linebacker in high school who set the school record for total tackles in a single game his Senior year. He and his entire family do not know the definition of “half-a**” or “just good enough”. The attitude, dedication, and pride he puts into his work is the “fine print” in his deals – and that’s WAY more important than the sticker price. "We have an old house that was built in 1925. In the first 3 years we lived here, the foundation (pier-and-beam) needed to be shimmed twice and we were looking at yet another foundation issue! The house had prior foundation work done about 10 years prior (previous owners). We called PHL Foundation Repair for an estimate. Pete Flores (owner) came out, suited up and went underneath to make an assessment. It turned out the prior work was not done correctly— the piers were not deep enough for the soil conditions (lots of clay), not enough rebar, beams not tied to the piers and not enough overall support of the floor joists. Pete and his crew made it right with 54 new piers (down to 4 feet this time), proper rebar cages in the piers and tie-ins to the 6x6 beams as well as additional 6x6 shaker beams to spread the load. They were also able to correct a problem with a load bearing wall (sagging) that dated back to 1925! The new skirting was outstanding. They used Hardie Plank to mimic the look of the siding and sealed each seam to make a watertight solution. It looks like it was original to the house. The crew were very professional and courteous, taking time to answer any questions we had, and cleaned up at the end of each day. It was lots of hard, manual work by Pete and his crew, but the results were well worth it!"
