"Comment to be posted on HomeAdvisor and Angies' List Discovery Roofing We needed a new roof due to wind and hail damage, but knew very little about roofing. After extensive research, we decided on a metal roof. While assessing damages for payout, our insurance company told us future homeowner insurance rates also would be lower with a new metal roof. We asked five different companies for bids. Immediately Discovery Roofing, a family owned and operated concern, with low overhead, gained the advantage because only they, while on site, looked, measured and immediately provided quotes for four different options for both conventional and metal roofs. They showed us examples of all materials to be used, pros and cons for each and listed additional extra charges for re-flashing the chimney, etc. As icing on the cake, they were the only company that sat down with us to explain the entire process, and gave us addresses of three nearby homes they had roofed and said we would also be free to talk with occupants. They said their quote was firm, the total bill payable upon completion with no upfront deposit and the only variable might be a small charge for any damaged wood needing replacement. After receiving all five quotes, some taking more than a week to be provided, Discovery offered the best value, although not the lowest price. The low bidder would not remove the old roof, but would put the new one over it, with no chimney re-flashing. Discovery would also do this, and at a reduced cost, but did not recommend it because they said it voided the manufacturer warranty. Some quotes were outrageously higher than Discovery. We were pleasantly surprised when the quote was only slightly higher than the insurance check for a replacement conventional roof. The job was professionally done and we love the result. They would not accept payment until after Jerry made a personal inspection to insure everything was in order. Thank you Jerry and Discovery Roofing."
