"Professional personnel to the max. The water mitigation team was exceptional in their response and duties. They were at my home one hour from the time I talked with Nicole about my situation. Dehumidifiers going 24/7 for 96 hours and then fans for five days. And they kept the house amazingly clean during its operations. I am totally impressed by the teams' skills and courtesies. Then Jacob, the assessor of how much the costs would come to for insurance purposes has so much experience in the industry from actually laying tile down early in his career, to knowing the inside and outs of the industry. I totally trust his judgement and dedication to ensuring the client doesn't get shortchanged by the insurance company. He's a fighter and unbelievable pro at his work. Emergency Restoration Services is by far the best professionals I've had the distinct pleasure of being its client. I highly recommend for any future misfortunes one might encounter. Thank you ERS LLC for your superb effort and results. Respectfully, Kenneth Martin"

"Carlos came out and took some samples and had them sent back to a lab in Richmond. He called back in the allotted time he said he would and luckily the test results were negative. No further action required. He estimated about $1200 for the job if it woul dhave required to be taken out and said there was also a fee from another company of about $300 to test the air after the work was completed, which aligns to the other estimates I received. He knocked off 25$ from the testing since he was able to get the samples so easily. Very nice guy and very professional. <br />"

"Carlos and Brian came out to see if waterproofing was the solution for our basement situation. They were very thorough to the point of determining the stain and problem was coming from our dishwasher in the kitchen. They went the extra mile over something that would not benefit them earning work but longed us in the right direction. Top notch honest professionals. Very thoughtful and helpful. Would hire them in the future for any basement waterproofing I would need because of that."

"Chris came out on extremely short notice to examine possible moisture in the walls of our rowhouse. He was able to open our drywall (cutting a neat square that caused as little damage as possible), perform a thorough inspection of the area, and confirm there was no evidence of mold. His explanations were very clear and assuaged our concerns. He followed up later that day with a detailed photo-report. Would recommend to anyone with concerns about water damage or mold."

"I had an overall great experience, they were very clean and neat. They completed the work quickly and around my schedule. I was highly recommended by a co-worker and they were everything they have mention to me. I will be recommending them and he will be back later this summer to stain and seal my deck. <br />"

FAQs for toxic lead testing projects in Fredericksburg, VA

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a strong chance it contains lead-based paint. Many pre-1980 houses also contain lead in their plumbing and decorative materials, so age alone is a significant red flag. Older homes near industrial areas face an even higher risk. Because you can’t confirm lead by sight, scheduling a test is the safest way to protect your family.

In older houses, lead can lurk in painted trim, window sashes, soil around the foundation, plumbing pipes, and even vintage hardware. The metal is toxic, and children and pregnant women are most at risk. Exposure can trigger developmental delays, learning problems, and organ damage. Because the EPA links even low levels to serious health effects, test every suspected surface and address any hazards right away.

A positive test means lead is present somewhere you can touch, breathe, or disturb. The next step is a full risk assessment to map exactly where the hazard lies and outline the safest fix: encapsulation, enclosure, or full removal. Repairs start at $1,000 but can exceed $10,000 for complete elimination, so act quickly and hire certified pros to keep your family safe.

EPA lead certification proves that inspectors, risk assessors, and abatement contractors follow federal safety rules under the Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Program. The credential costs an average of $300, and certified professionals can legally test, contain, or remove lead hazards. Hiring a certified pro protects you from fines and ensures the work meets strict health standards.

Lead-based paint looks no different from any other paint, so you can’t identify it by color or sheen. Even flawless walls may hide it. If paint starts chipping, flaking, or peeling, schedule a professional test right away. Only laboratory-grade testing confirms lead and guides the safest fix for your home.
