"After several repairs over a couple of years we decided to replace our 14 year old central AC system with a new heat pump system. We got quotes from 3 companies, and decided to go with B.A.R. Appliances AC LLC based on past experience, extended warranty, and very competitive costs. The entire installation was efficient and professional. I found Henry and his staff a pleasure to deal with. They left me with a nice clean system and I would highly recommend B.A.R. Appliances AC LLC for any HVAC work. It's nice to have quality work done in this day and age!"

"We needed our water heater replaced. It was somewhat complicated because we wanted to upgrade the tank in size, but we had limited room for it. There was some back and forth in finding the appropriate tank, but the salesperson and technicians were very pleasant to work with throughout the whole process. When the pipes were moved and the tank was installed, it was done efficiently and professionally. We are very happy with our experience and the final product."

"Wonderful experience with this company.  In September 2012, I bought a Big Deal to have a new electric water heater installed.  The owner came out and found that I have a boiler that is heated with oil, so an electric water heater was not an option.  Then he offered to refund my Big Deal payment or to do some other service in the future, which is what I chose to do.  In December, my garbage disposal stopped working.  I bought a disposal and called Knock-You-Out to come and install it.  They were very prompt in coming, but found that the disposal I'd purchase was a plug-in, and my system had direct connections.  John said they could supply the disposal and quoted me a very good price. (Another plumber had quoted me over $400 just for the disposal; John provided me a garbage disposal of the same quality for $129.)  They returened in a week and installed the disposal, which works great.  However, immediately after the installation, our dishwasher ceased draining, and 3" of water accumulated in the bottom.  I called (or emailed) Knock-You-Out and left a message.  They called back promptly, came out immediately, and unclogged the dishwasher hose.  Altogether, Knock-You-Out came out to my home four times, resolved a problem not related to the original Big Deal, all for the original $199 Big Deal.  The only additional expense Ihad was  the price of the Garbage Disposal.

"I looked for a/c repair on a Sunday, not expecting any replies. To my surprise, Clark Forbes not only replied but said he would be able to come out later in the day. He kept in communication to let me know approx. time of arrival. he came out and got it running. my central a/c is 51 years old with no parts ever replaced. It still had some issues that could not be solved without additional parts likely needed. he checked on parts available for such an old unit the next day as promised. he kept in communication all the next day and discussed what direction I wanted to go with such an old unit. we agreed that if it quits in the future we might continue with parts, but would have to evaluate the rational cost of fixing a 51-year-old unit /versus replacement. I would recommend his services to anyone and his quick response and constant communication were wonderful in this day and age of people not getting back to you."

"The service man first checked the breaker after I described the problem.  The breaker was off and he turned it on.  It popped so he alertly turned it back off.  He then pulled the oven out to inspect the plug, outlet and inside the back of the oven.  He noticed  the plug was not all the way in the outlet.  Then he removed the outlet plate and determined that the outlet was in good shape.  After removing the back panel to the oven he also determined everything was in working order there.  He put everything back in place then the breaker was turned back on and now the oven is in good working order.   He was very efficient,  quick to diagnose the problem and completely thorough.  He even charged me a very fair price for his greatly appreciated efforts.

"Items that can be fixed within a reasonable cost are fixed with my out of pocket cost of only the $45 deductible. Items that they deem too expensive to fix are "replaced," i.e., you are offered an amount of money to purchase a new appliance, etc. If the offered amounted is not sufficient, I suggest that you make a reasonable counter offer based on your existing appliance's features, etc. Keep in mind, they are a business, just like any insurance company or health care provider, so they will look to serve you as cost effectively as possible."

FAQs for appliance (smaller size) installation and replacement projects in Freeland, MD

Garbage disposals last around 10 years when properly maintained. If your unit is getting close to that age or repair costs are increasing, it might be time to consider a replacement. Regular maintenance and careful use can help maximize your garbage disposal's performance and help it reach its maximum lifespan.

There are several signs to watch for that indicate your garbage disposal needs to be replaced. Replacement may be necessary if it doesn't work even though it's properly connected, the blades are worn and causing delays in operation, a persistent foul odor that won't go away, or leaks coming from the bottom due to a compromised seal. If you're experiencing any of these issues, it might be time to consider getting a new garbage disposal to keep your kitchen running smoothly.

A plumber or handyperson can install your garbage disposal if the electrical connections are already in place. If you need additional electrical work, you'll also need to hire a qualified electrician to handle the rest of the job. Hiring local professionals ensures the installation is safe and up to code.

It’s important to avoid putting certain items down the drain to keep your garbage disposal running smoothly and avoid clogs. Expandable foods like pasta, rice, oatmeal, and bread can swell and cause blockages. Coffee grounds, grease, fats, and oils can accumulate and create clogs. Hard items such as meat bones, nuts, and fruit pits can damage the disposal blades. Eggshells, potato peels, and fibrous vegetables such as celery, pumpkin, corn husks, artichokes, onion skins, and asparagus can wrap around the blades or obstruct the pipes.

Not every sink is suitable for the installation of a garbage disposal. The compatibility of the sink with the disposal depends on the material and structural integrity. While many standard sinks support these units, fireclay sinks are prone to cracking under the added stress and should not be used. Confirm that your sink can securely accommodate the disposal before installation.

Choosing the correct size garbage disposal depends on your household size and how much waste you produce. A 1/3–1/2 horsepower unit should be sufficient for households with one to two people. If your household consists of three to six people, a 1/2–3/4 horsepower unit is recommended. FA3/4–1 horsepower model will be necessary. For larger households of five to eight people
