"Rob responded on the weekend when I was freaking out, and came out right away, accommodating my difficult schedule once the rain stopped. He assessed the situation, but explained that repairs required the roof to be dry. He also identified other problems with the roof (which is old). Three days later, after some dry weather, he returned and fixed both problems - and it had rained since - all is well! He also gave me, at my request, a bid on a total roof tear-off, but without an aggressive sales push. AND he followed up two weeks later to be sure that the problem was resolved. I currently plan to hire Rob and CRP for the tear-off next year."

"They came out to inspect the roof and suggest needed repairs. The items they suggested correlated very well with the items that the other companies we got quotes from had suggested. They were very professional and seemed very knowledgeable. Went with another company in the end just because they were going to do a couple extra repairs. Would definitely call ABC back next time we need roofing work done."

"They completed a complete roof teardown and putting new shingles on in a single day.  Over the weekend more high velocity wind hit the area and they came out the next day to check and make sure everything stayed in place.  They did everything without requiring any money upfront to start or complete the work.  R&R Roofing is a true roofing company that not only does the work, they did it correctly without cutting corners to meet the insurance quote.  They also kept me informed with everything that was going on.  Truly a professional company and a great company to work with."

"DC Roofing & Exteriors did a fantastic job of working with our insurance to get most of this project covered when we had been denied by them twice. Once on the job they were great. They took our old roof off, fixed some boards underneath, and put the new roof on in the same day. Our gutters were done a week or so later. It all looks great."

"Life would be much easier if every business had the high standards and professional employees I found with this company! Beginning with my initial meeting with Ben and continuing through Hillary's application of the last line of caulk, I was impressed by how dedicated this company is to providing high quality work that meets the expectation of the customer. Ben has the ability to listen and understand what the customer is looking for in product, cost and time table. Steve's visits to keep abreast of the work being done was appreciated, and Hillary is truly a talented installer with years of experience that provide him with a ready ability to solve the unexpected situations that probably come along with many jobs. I will have exterior doors replaced in the near future and I plan to have them do that job also."

"RCV did a great job on our roof. They were also great with clean-up! Couldn't tell they'd even been there (no roofing nails or odd shingles left in the yard). The crew was courteous and when we had a couple of small issues after installation, they came right back out to adjust things. Would hire again."

"After a bad hail storm, R&M inspected my roof, free of charge. Damage was noted so I contacted my insurance company who in turn scheduled a visit from the adjuster. The R&M Project Manager met the adjuster at my house and went over the damage. The claim was approved. Even before the 1st check from the insurance company was received, R&M completed the new roof and also replaced all screens damaged by the storm. Throughout the entire process, I had to do nothing more than call the insurance company to initiate the claim. R&M took care of everything else - this was as painless a procedure as I have ever experienced. The roof looks great and when I walked it later I found only quality workmanship. I would highly recommend this company based both upon the quality and timeliness of their work as well as their customer service."

"Working with Royalty was a great experience. They had repaired a ridge vent for us a few years ago, and we were impressed with the attention they gave us for a "mere" $600 repair. So, when it was time for a completely new roof, we called Royalty. A sales person met with us within a work week, and was very patient with helping us weigh the different shingle options, warranties, and choose a color. We were given an approximate work start date, and despite many rainy work days that month, work started within two days of the approximate date (which was about two weeks out from when we signed the contract). The quote given to us was within $500 (4%) of two other quotes we received from local roofing companies. <br /> We were really impressed with the prompt and clear communication from our salesperson. He let us know when to expect the dumpster, the roofing crew, the gutter crew, and whenever we called with a question, he returned our call within an hour, even in the evening. The on-site crew was friendly, courteous, and graciously tolerated my five-year-old and two-year-old watching them roof the garage from our two story window. The crew foreman also communicated with us on site throughout the process, answering questions, and informing us on the status of our roof boards. When high winds blew shingles into the garage and vinyl siding, the foreman showed us the damage, asked if the crew could repaint with matching colors, and even repainted a spot where we, the owners, splashed paint on the siding when cleaning brushes. <br /> When it came to clean up, the crew did an excellent job, which was especially important with our children who like to run barefoot outside. With the high winds, many of the old shingles tried to fly pretty far, but the crew got pretty much all of the old material cleared out. We only found a few nails in bushes and on the ground, a major improvement over work we had done with other roofers at previous homes. Less than five nails left behind on such a big job was pretty impressive. Start to finish on the roof took two full work days, which included removing two previous layers of shingles. The gutters took less than five hours over an evening and the following morning. <br /> We are very pleased with the service we received from Royalty. Our roof and gutters look great, and the price was very comparable to the two other quotes we got from other companies. Our final total only exceeded the quote by the cost of roof plywood that we chose to replace, and we were well informed of the additional cost that would entail when we made that choice during the work. Although we were daunted by needing such expensive home repairs, we felt confident in our choice of provider. We highly recommend Royalty for residential roofing/gutter needs. <br /> <br /> <br />"

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Freetown, IN

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
