The price was very reasonable, and it was easy to communicate with Javier. We were told what time the crew would arrive and how long it would take to complete the work. After the flooring was installed, the crew cleaned up and didn't leave a mess on the floor. they are very friendly and nice. "I can’t recommend Royal Oak Flooring highly enough. My wife and I met Laurie at her shop on Ventura Blvd. (suggest you make an appointment to ensure finding her there) in order to figure out whether Royal Oak could accommodate what we were trying to do. Previously we’d talked with 2 big-box stores and 2 small flooring shops but they all seemed to be trying to sell us very basic (but cheaper) installations. We wanted a floor with a thin black strip about 5” in from the wall to serve as a border. We also wanted mitered 45-degree corners rather than butted. The Royal Oak store is not large, compared to, say, Floors & Decor, but it has an overwhelming variety of samples. And Laurie is the kind of person who will make a phone call on the spot to find out if what you want is possible. She gave us several 2”x2” samples to take home and emailed us quotes for the different flooring and installations we were considering. After a few days we settled on a floor with 5” wide maple planks and the black border. We appreciated Laurie’s willingness to listen to what we wanted rather than try to sell us what she’d already done 1000 times. We realized why Laurie had the confidence to consider alternatives to the basic installation after Rafael and Abel showed up. These guys were the craftsmen we were beginning to think existed only on some other continent, the craftsmen who’d have to be flown over to the U.S. and put up in a motel while they worked on our mitered corners and our black border 5” from the wall. My wife and I are both retired engineers, so (1) we’re detail-oriented, and (2) we got a lot of time on our hands. I can be a pain in the butt, for sure, but Rafael and Abel never shied away from questions. And they asked them too. At one point I asked Rafael if there was a saying in Spanish equivalent to “The Devil is in the details.” Smiling, he assured me there was. Quite honestly, it got so that just seeing these guys in the morning was reassuring. They cleaned up everyday before leaving, made Herculean attempts to keep dust from escaping, and in general tried to reduce their impact on the normal house functioning as much as possible. We’re very happy with the new hardwood floor we got thanks to Royal Oak Flooring."

"Byron showed up on the agreed date / time to begin the work. He first helped me move the large furniture out of the room, and then he removed the existing carpeting and pad. After that, he prepared the concrete for the new flooring. Once the concrete was ready he installed the vapor barrier and then the insulation layer... and then the floor. Byron planned the layout so the wood patterns were optimal. To save me money, he was careful not to damage the existing molding. Lastly he installed the 1/4 round shoe base to cover any space between the existing molding and the floor. The final step was the install of the T-molding at the doorways. Byron's effort to provide an excellent outcome was very much appreciated. I am extremely happy with the outcome. He's a professional that takes pride in his work."

"It was a pleasure working with Mario, he is very knowledgeable and helpful. Mario?s team did a great job repairing my antique hardwood floor in my 110-year old house. There was water damage, dry rot and missing wood planks. They did a great job at blending in the new wood with the old wood. Professional, knowledgeable and friendly crew. The floors look beautiful! I highly recommend Mario Diaz Flooring. <br /> The job took 3 days total including two coats of oil-based polyeurthane. Once the work was completed I had to wait a total of 48 hours before I could move my furniture back in (24 hours for the oil-based polyeurthane to dry and another 24 hours for it to cure). The smell of the top coat is very strong for the first 2-3 days as expected due to it being oil-based and not water-based. I chose a semi-gloss finish, no staining necessary. The type of wood we had to purchase to match my old floors was very expensive, but blended in nicely."

"I expected the baseboards to be removed for the install of the floors and then reinstalled. I was never told that the baseboard would not be removed... which means that the wood was only installed short of the baseboards, and now, I will always have to have a base shoe. This is not a design element that I want to be forced to live with. We went back and forth about how unhappy I was with being pigeonholed to this decision... and things got quite contentious at times. But all in all, the wood floors themselves look good."
