"After getting 3 quotes Aguirre Painting was the best. They were also very professional and organized. The paint job they did for me was beautiful. Before and after the job the owners met with me to make sure they knew what I wanted and that the job was done correctly. I highly recommend this company and I will be using them again."

"We chose this company based on Angie List reviews and services offered. The cabinet finish restoration went well. However, the project was mostly assigned to employees who had limited skills compared to Dave and Claire, particularly in the installation of revolving shelves chosen by Refinish First. The costly unit selected by Refinish First failed after 2 years and after weeks of communication and investigation the manufacturer determined it was incorrectly installed. It stood behind the product however and shipped a new unit. Refinish First was too busy to follow up and discontinued contact. Perhaps two years is too long to expect a business to stand behind its work."

"I really wanted to give Cabinet Cures a good review, but the project was not without its issues. Before the work began, we specifically asked the crew NOT to put any painter’s tape of any kind on the hardwood floors. They had put blue painter’s tape down on protective paper and revamped by replacing it with “sensitive” tape even though they were asked not to use any tape at all. We were told the sensitive tape would not damage the floor and that the paper had to be taped down for safety reasons. Needless to say, when the paper was pulled up, the floor was damaged in several spots where the tape removed the finish. They told us they are not responsible for floor damage and that due to the age of the finish, the result was unavoidable. Unavoidable? How about no tape…no damage. We were given a timeframe of 5-10 days for project completion and it was nearly three weeks, mainly because the hardware (handles) for the cupboards and drawers were on back order. Perhaps this should have been known before starting? Only half were installed in a timely manner. We were also advised not to disturb the crew while they were working as the work is precise, but my husband just happened to notice that they were refacing our island in white and it was supposed to be in walnut. My husband caught that early. The first night after they left, I went to use the microwave and someone from the crew had left a cup of coffee in it. This is during COVID and they had not asked to use the microwave. Second day my husband heard “dinging” sounds from the kitchen and they were again trying to use the microwave to heat coffee but were actually using controls for the lower oven. I just thought this was disrespectful to the homeowner during a pandemic. So, do I like my new refaced cabinets, yes. Do I like strangers using my appliances without permission…nope. Do I like my damaged floors…not so much. Beware and read the fine print in the contract and maybe think twice about using this company."

"Really well. He got the job done in the time frame he said he would. The cabinets look AMAZING! We had new cabinet doors put on along with wood veneers on the sides. I was a bit nervous about how the veneers would look, but they look beautiful. He also built a few cabinets and drawer pullouts, which we are really happy with. TJ and his son worked together and were kind and professional. Installation was quick."

"Owners David and Joanne Taylor met with us to provide a quote and explain how the pullouts installation process would work. They were gracious when we had to reschedule our first meeting. They provided a quote without high-pressuring us to commit to the project. After getting the quote, we went to a local home show to see a sample installation. They addressed all of the questions we had prior to us making a commitment to the project and were very responsive and positive to a change we wanted to make regarding our pantry area after we did commit to the project. We appreciated them offering guidance based on their own experiences of what works--aspects that we hadn't considered. They took careful measurements and showed up on installation day with a well equipped service vehicle. The work area inside and outside our home was left clean. The installation was completed in the estimated amount of time. We converted a pantry closet and  upgraded four existing kitchen cabinets with these pullout shelves. We are so excited about the pullout shelves. I'm having to retrain my thinking. Hey! These shelves actually pull out now! By having access to the front and back of shelves--especially deeper shelves--I think we are making more effective use of the space. Of all the kitchen projects we have on tap, we decided to start with this one and consider it well worth the cost. We would definitely recommend Pullouts Plus and owners David and Joanne Taylor to others and we will not hesitate to call on them again for other custom carpentry needs. Del and Kathryn P."

FAQs for cabinets refinish projects in Gaston, OR

To find the best cabinet refinishing expert for your project, start by researching local pros and reading reviews from previous customers. Reach out to a few contractors to discuss your cabinets' size, condition, and the look you're aiming for. Don't hesitate to ask for references or examples of their past work. Speaking with previous clients can give you valuable insights into the pro's workmanship and reliability.

When speaking with potential cabinet refinishing pros, consider asking them several questions to gauge their experience and professionalism. These questions can help you gauge the pro's experience and determine if they align with your needs.

  • Do you offer a guarantee on your work?

  • Can you create custom finishes or colors?

  • Do you have examples or samples of your past projects?

  • Are you able to match the finish to other cabinets in my home?

  • How long will the project take from start to finish?

Regular care will help maintain the beauty of your cabinets for years to come. To keep your refinished cabinets looking their best, follow these steps:

  • Use gentle cleaners: Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that can damage the finish. A simple mixture of warm water and mild dish soap works well.

  • Clean carefully: Instead of spraying solutions directly onto the cabinets, apply them to a soft microfiber cloth and wipe gently.

  • Protect from heat and moisture: Try to minimize exposure to excessive heat or moisture, which can affect the finish over time.

It's usually less costly to refinish cabinets than to replace them, depending on the cabinet condition. Refinishing cabinets cost an average of $3,114 while replacing cabinets is about $5,000 or more. When deciding to refinish or replace cabinets, consider several factors, including how old your cabinets are, your budget, and whether you need to complete any other renovation projects at the same time.

It may be worth resurfacing (also known as refacing) your cabinets if they’re in good shape but you’re interested in a different look. This is often less expensive than replacing cabinets outright and can allow you to update the look of your cabinets to reflect your kitchen’s current style without having to get rid of them entirely. The cost to reface cabinets is around $4,300 to $10,000, and you can hire a local cabinet refacing pro to handle this work.

Refinishing cabinets takes about two to three days to complete. The process begins with removing cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware, followed by cleaning, stripping, and sanding the surfaces. Any chips, stains, or splits are repaired before applying paint or stain. After applying the finish, the cabinets are reassembled, and the workspace is cleaned up, leaving your cabinets refreshed and renewed.
