"I need to revise a previous review. Jim did do excellent work. His cuts were absolutely plumb, straight and horizontal. Previously I made a statement regarding the precision of his cuts and that was only due to one cut extending outside of the area necessary to install the window. I previously stated that I would not use Jim again, which is misleading. I merely meant that, being fairly handy myself, I would feel confident enough to do the same job myself in the future after having seen how it is done. As far as the quality of workmanship, I have no significant reason for criticism. The final product is excellent, complies with code, and provides much better lighting for our future basement bedrooms than what was there before."

The shelf life of concrete depends on whether it's wet or dry. Ready-mixed concrete in its wet form lasts approximately 90 minutes to two hours after water is added, so it is essential to schedule your delivery carefully. Bags of dry concrete mix can last several months if stored properly in a cool, dry place. Moisture exposure can cause the cement to harden or lose strength over time.
An average concrete truck can hold between eight and 11 cubic yards of concrete, although some larger trucks can carry up to 15 cubic yards. However, road weight limits often restrict the amount they can carry, so most deliveries are around eight to 11 cubic yards. Knowing this helps you plan the number of truckloads you'll need for your project.
Pouring concrete doesn't take very long once the truck arrives. One cubic yard of concrete can be poured in about 10 minutes. Therefore, a full truck with 10 cubic yards of material would take approximately one hour and 40 minutes to empty. Keep in mind, though, that preparation and finishing work add time to the overall project.
Concrete sealing typically costs between $1,400 and $3,000. A high-quality sealer forms a durable barrier that blocks moisture, chemicals, and stains, helping the surface resist cracking and discoloration. By protecting the slab now, you avoid costly repairs later and extend the concrete’s lifespan. For best results, pros thoroughly clean the surface and apply the product evenly at the manufacturer’s recommended coverage rate.
Installing a standard concrete walkway costs around $1,800 for 200 square feet, which usually translates to a 3-foot-wide, 65-foot-long path poured to a 4-inch thickness. That figure includes both materials and professional labor. Reinforcement, coloring, or decorative finishes can raise the price, as can increasing the slab’s thickness to support light vehicle traffic. Knowing the dimensions and intended use in advance helps your local concrete contractor quote accurately and avoid surprise add-ons.
A concrete slab costs between $3,600 and $7,200. The final price depends on thickness, reinforcement, and site preparation. Basic residential pours use a 4-inch slab, but garages or workshops may need extra depth or steel rebar, which drives up material and labor charges. Some homeowners opt for prefabricated slabs delivered to the site, trading higher transport fees for quicker installation and consistent quality. Discuss load requirements and soil conditions with your contractor to choose the most cost-effective option.
