The technician, Scott, showed up right on time (which is typical for SPH&A), extremely courteous (also typical), and did a timely but thorough job of the system checkup. This may be my favorite local business in the Richmond area; I feel I get a tremendous amount of value for the products and services they provide. When we needed our downstairs unit replaced two years ago, I went to great lengths to find the best possible value. During my research, I kept seeing comments about how great Short Pump Heating & Air was, and I have to say, it's all true. When they installed the downstairs unit, I was extremely impressed by the professionalism of the entire team, from the office staff to the technicians to the owner. In fact, I was so impressed that I had them replace the upstairs unit a year later, and didn't think twice about whom to call. As a homeowner, it gives me great peace of mind to have such a reliable organization as SPH&A for something as important as our heating and cooling system. "It took five appointments before we hit a day that the work could be done. I want to be very clear that the first three appointments were rained out with the rainiest May since the 1800s. Todd, the owner of the company, personally did the work. It took two loads of pea gravel to fill the void in the annular opening! He also advised on work to consider in the future regarding the pipe bringing the water into the house and replacing the pump with a submersible one. We have only owned the home for 10 months. My strongest advice would be to make sure an inspection of the well and pump are done prior to closing. Most real estate agents do not seem to know that this is a nominal cost and should be done if you have a private water source. I will absolutely continue to use the services of Matthews Well and Pump"

"The young men were prompt and courteous and did a good job of sealing off and taping the spray zone. However, they were done in about 3 hours. On the return visit to apply the sealer they were done in under an hour. As they said, "It was an easy one." They asked me how smooth a texture I wanted and for the most part met my expectations, although in the corners and close to the backsplash --where the sanding was more difficult, the texture was quite bumpy.  They did not ask me to check the texture before proceeding with the sealer stage. If they had, I would have asked for a little more sanding first (for easier cleaning on my part). So, not perfect but not a big deal either. <br /> When they had cleaned up and approached me for payment I asked if there was any wiggle room in the price considering they were done in far less time than was estimated, and it had been a simple job. They said no. The only reason I didn't call the office to discuss the price, brief time spent etc was because my housemate was paying for this particular improvement (we share costs and alternate paying for jobs). While she agreed with my observations she was very busy at work and didn't feel like trying to argue the point. So, in summary I feel the quote was a bit high and uninformed, since Miracle Method's own employees exclaimed upon how easy the job was, and work was done in far less time than stated. The end result looks nice and has held up perfectly. I would just tell anyone to make sure that the quoted price took into account ALL the factors and the time frame quoted is factual. <br />"
