"Dan and his crew have done many different projects for me from electrical work, plumbing, remodeling my basement and creating a mudroom for us. They have done great work. He is easy to communicate with and I recommend them to anyone I know who has a project they need help with. I highly recommend them"

"Machtemes DBR completed a long punch list of handyman services on my home including soffit construction and gutter repair, heat coil installation for our roof line to address a persistent ice dam issue, porch roof assessment and repair, exterior door installation, finish work including baseboards and trim around windows and doors, and attic insulation. Jon the head contractor showed extensive and wide ra ging knowledge and expertise. His detail work was exceptional. He was able to perform tasks we requested but also was able to troubleshoot problems we didn't know how to solve, suggesting several options for us to consider. The work he did for us has lasted years showing no wear and tear. Would recommend him again."

"The StayDry specialist, Matt Brown, was clean, professional, knowledgeable, a good listener, very thorough in his explanations, unhurried, and very respectful. He spend  time assessing the situation and provided detailed discussion and explanation. He answered all my questions thoroughly and respectfully. He recommended that no corrective work was needed. Matt did not try to sell me any goods or services and he offered to accept calls from potential buyers if they were to have questions about basement cracks. This was one of the VERY BEST experiences I've EVER had with a contractor. (I'm 66 and have met plenty.) I cannot express the extent of my satisfaction...and it's not simply about not having to spend money. The StayDry representative was a true professional; VERY smart and VERY respectful. How wonderful it is to find StayDry. And yes....the finding that no work was needed was appreciated. I've dealt with several contractors who, once inside my home, engaged me in high pressure sales pitches that used scare tactics. Ugh! They are never invited back. THANK YOU StayDry for your integrity. I'll call you first anytime I need basement-related services.

"Went OK. They did the work and it 'mostly worked' when they were done. I say mostly because the pressure valve was blowing off of the boiler when they were done (This was NOT happening before they had done the work). I had noticed this the day after I had paid. I contacted them and they wanted to replace the expansion tank and charge me $200. I asked - shouldn't this be covered under the initial work of $4600? They said the part wasn't explicitly in the quote. Frankly at this point to replace what really was a $40 part and half hour of time to do a fully finished job (for $4600). For 1. How am I supposed to know (as a customer) what should be on the quote for a fully finished job (pumps, piping, etc? - they are the expert) 2. How am I supposed to know this isnt their fault. (Shouldnt an autofilling expansion tank be connected to the incoming water supply?) Frankly not standing fully behind their work and making sure they do everything to do a good, finished job - left a 'bad' taste in my mouth. In the end I replaced the auto-filling expansion tank with an Extrol expansion tank for $40 and it took me less than an hour. After that it all appears to work."

"The outcome is always very nice and he is very professional. The price is always good. However, I explain my expectations and he never makes me feel I'm asking too much. He gives me a quote. I say, yes, or no."

"We love our kitchen! Quality is excellent and the attention to detail is obvious. We were so grateful when Ralph connected us to a design team to help us with our dream kitchen. But his creative ideas and wonderful problem solving skills kept the project moving. The construction area was cleaned daily and the project was finished on time and on budget. We really enjoyed having him in our home. His can do attitude made us feel confident we chose the right contractor."

FAQs for doors (interior) installation and replacement projects in Grand Haven, MI

If your existing frame is in good shape, you can replace an interior door without changing the frame. This is a budget-friendly option because it saves on the cost of removing and installing a new frame. By choosing a slab door that fits your current frame, you'll save on labor and materials. Just make sure the new door matches the old one's dimensions for a smooth replacement.

Standard interior doors are 80 inches tall and range from 28 to 32 inches wide. Interior doors vary from 24 to 36 inches wide, depending on their purpose and the available space. Building codes require interior doors to be at least 80 inches tall and 24 inches wide. Knowing standard sizes helps you select a new door that fits properly in your existing opening.

It costs $600 to $2,000 or more to move an inside door. The total price depends on your location, the type of door, and materials needed to complete the project. Moving an interior door requires walling up the leftover space and opening up a new wall where you want the door to go instead. You’ll also want to plan for the expense of framing the new wall opening and adding trim.

Exterior door installation costs an average of $1,175, with a typical range of $525 to $1,800. The higher expense compared to the cost of interior doors comes from the need for exterior doors to be weather-proofed and they are often made of thicker, more durable materials. The associated exterior hardware must also be able to withstand harsh weather, so these cost more as well.

It costs between $300 to $2,500 to make a doorway wider on average. However, the wider you need the space to be, the more it will cost. Some homeowners choose to widen interior doorways to make the house more wheelchair accessible. In order to be wheelchair accessible, an interior door needs to be at least 32 to 36 inches wide. Also, some older homes just have narrow doorways due to the nature of how homes were built differently many decades ago.

It takes between two to five hours for a professional door installer to install an interior door, depending on complexity and materials. A pre-hung door typically takes around two hours, and larger doors like double French doors can take up to five hours. If you’re doing the project yourself, expect it to take a little longer than that, especially if you have little to no experience completing this type of project. Keep in mind that a pre-hung door can be installed about an hour or two faster than a slab door.
