"During my DIY bathroom remodel we removed the old casing from the baseboard hot water heater. Turned out to be a bigger project than planned. With my schedule and Bob's schedule it took a little while to get him to my house but once we set an appointment he was there on time and was able to finish fixing the heater which was a little more involved than he had anticipated. In addition he did a couple of other smaller projects (installing the toilet and tub fixtures) that I hadn't gotten around to finishing from the remodel. With my not knowing a ton about plumbing he was willing to talk me through what he did and explain some things. I would definitely recommend his services. <br />"

"If you're looking for a plumber, I can't recommend Fred Blakely highly enough. I called Fred after seeing his reviews on Angie's List and he responded to my message the same day. He's since been working with me on a bathroom remodel and I honestly can't imagine ever using another plumber. He returns calls promptly and shows up when he says he will (I think you could set a clock by the guy). He knows his trade inside and out. A very easy recommendation to anyone needing a plumber."

"It turned out I had some valves set incorrectly and was probably wasting fuel heating hot water. They pointed this out and changed the valve positions and we are now getting great hot water without burning so much wood. <br /> Our system is 2 furnace, dual fuel (wood and oil backup) and is fairly complicated. It was originally installed incorrectly (NOT by County) when the house was built in 2006 and we later called in County to set it up properly , and they did a great job. They have been our heating and plumbing provider ever since."

"<p>When the flooring on our deck collapsed, I called Dan Clar. I was orried because the porch roof is standing seem and the support posts were out of true.</p> <p>Dan came and was able to fit in my repair within a few days.</p> <p>He and his employees were professional and responsive.</p> <p>Dan also took an extra step when discussing a different deck were though had to be repaired. He gave us a quote for the repair, but after closer examination advised us to save money as it did not need repairs for the foreseeable future. </p> <p>I will hire Dan again for any future repairs and would recommend him.</p> <p>Maybe you could find someone who charged less, but I believe the quality of the work would suffer.</p> <p>Remember, you get what you pay for....</p> <br />"

"We have had the pleasure of Todd's plumbing service since we moved to the area several yrs ago. We feel very fortunate to have his services: a nice person, very professional, knowledgeable efficient and completely trustworthy. He is personally very concerned that we are completely happy with his work and demeanor and we always are. He knows our Baxi system inside and out. We would never hire anyone else to do work on our heating systems."

"Fantastic! Robert was so helpful. He took on a difficult project, fit me into his schedule, and worked hard until it was completed! He was always reachable by phone or text, and communicated well when issues arose. He did excellent work -very thorough and neat, didn’t cut any corners. Skilled at carpentry, plumbing, drywall- basically everything! He honestly went above and beyond. I plan on hiring him again soon. Highly recommend!"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Graniteville, VT

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
