Small jobs welcome

"They were very professional. They came in matched my color to the cabinets perfectly. If you want a big project that involves your kitchen cabinets refacing I highly recommend The Home Depot. I never went to the store everything was done in my house. Great Job."

"David Riggs is the owner of Opening Doors Remodeling. We would definitely recommend him to our friends. He is an upfront, honest and hardworking guy. He offered useful suggestions about what type of materials to purchase but was quite willing to work with whatever we went with in the end. He came on time and finished all of the work in the time he stated (2 weeks). He is a good craftsman and his work is meticulous. He also, very kindly, fixed our back door saying he couldn't stand it jamming every time he went in or out. The charges for his work were very reasonable. And, oh yes, the bathroom looks great! <br />"

"I cannot say enough about Bulldog Construction. Mike and Kathryn are a true team: Kathryn comes out and does the initial measuring, product explanation, samples, and bid, all professionally done with great communication. I had initially thought to just do a cabinet refacing in the kitchen, but when she asked me what had bugged me about the kitchen for years, she was very creative in offering solutions, all within my budget and price-conscious. The various options were clearly outlined, and it became very easy to choose. Mike comes out before the start of the project and does a final measure. The kitchen project included cabinet refacing, additional tall cabinet next to the refrigerator, a moving up and out of cabinets above the stove, installing new drawers in a previously unusable space, and two pull out shelves for pots and pans. The bathroom remodel included building a brand new vanity, taking the old shower down to open walls, installing backing for the new fixtures, waterproofing and prepping entire area, building a shower pan, tiling from floor to ceiling using a design from me, and finally tiling the floor. I am incredibly impressed with Mike's quality of work, the details, the true caring about his work and pleasing the customer (he has high standards in customer satisfaction), his communication about the project, his promptness and integrity. I could count on his word. He was also careful in creating the least disturbance, cleaning up after the job each day. Mike is a pleasure to talk to, although don't expect him to take a break - he works hard all day! All of the above was completed in three weeks (kitchen one week, bathroom two weeks). I cannot recommend them highly enough!!"

"He came out and looked at it, gave me an estimate as well as a flyer that was very professional, we coresponded via email / calls a few times and set up an appointment for him to come perform the service. He showed up on time and worked for about three hours. The moss was very stuborn and he worked very hard. The driveway looks great and he even told me that if it doesn't look like there was enough removed that he would come back the next day. I did end up calling him and he came back the very next day, just as promised."

"My estimates for all the work he did were double or triple his price. I can't say enough good about him, he is a master with wood working. He absolutely did the impossible, every single person I had out here said it was impossible to re-configure this huge floor to ceiling cabinet, that it would have to be re-constructed to the tune of 5-6,000. His skill is beyond explanation."

FAQs for cabinets reface projects in Grants Pass, OR

Absolutely. Refacing returns 65% to 80% of your investment at resale, and you get an updated kitchen right now. Because you’re not paying for new boxes or demo work, the price lands well below complete replacement but still delivers a fresh, custom look that buyers—and you—notice every time you walk in.

To trim costs, start by pricing a high-quality paint or gel stain instead of full refacing—stain alone can be one-third the price of full refacing. Keep existing hinges and pulls if they’re in good shape, and shop sales for sandpaper, primer, and sealer. The sweat equity is real, but so are the savings, and a careful DIY job can still leave your cabinets looking sharp for years to come.

A professional crew needs only three to five days to reface a standard kitchen, although a larger layout or intricate door style may add one to two days. Compare that with the several weeks a full cabinet swap can drag on. In other words, you get your space back fast, often before the paint on the new doors is even fully cured.

Yes, you can replace just the cabinet doors and drawer fronts without covering the cabinet boxes. Cabinet refacing involves installing new doors and drawer fronts while applying veneers to existing cabinet boxes. If you’re satisfied with the condition of your cabinets, swapping doors and drawer fronts reduces labor and materials, saving you time and cost. Always consult a professional to confirm compatibility and ensure a seamless, high-quality finish.

Most cabinet refacing projects do not require removing countertops because professionals can access doors and drawers around existing surfaces. However, if your countertop overhang prevents full access to the cabinet boxes, contractors may need to lift the countertop to install veneers properly temporarily. Discuss this with your refacing specialist during the on-site estimate so you know exactly what the project entails.
