They did a free estimate and were priced much better than local competition. The work done was top notch, more affordable didn't mean a lesser quality of work. His latest visit was to install two modified exhaust pipes to the two HVAC units which the furnace manufacturer had recommended. "Chuck was the first of three plumbers to give me an estimate on digging up the broken sewer main and replacing the old clay pipe with PVC pipe. From a video taken by Floyd's Drain Service, he knew exactly where the break was. We had the choice of either patching the pipe at the break or digging up 45 feet of back yard and replacing the whole pipe. Chuck said he could do the whole job for $1500, replacing the chain link fence and putting back the dirt with a slight rise that would settle down within a year. He gave the earliest possible date of the Tuesday of the next week. I work Tuesdays but he assured me that he would not need me to be there. <br /> When I called Chuck back to tell him he had the job for $1500, I asked about the 10% discount coupon on Angie's List. He said he hadn't known it was there, but that he would honor it. City workers and then the plumbing crew came the appointed morning, but I had to go to work before the job was finished. There was a snowstorm coming in and I was glad we would be able to get the pipe replaced before it hit. <br /> When I got home, I was shocked! The snow had not come, and the dirt had not been put back as promised. Instead, there was a mini-mountain ridge, two to three feet high, running all the way along the 45-foot length of the back yard. <br /> I called immediately, but there was no answer. The next day it snowed heavily. Chuck called back to ask what the matter was. He insisted that he had followed standard operating procedure because I had not requested and quot;special compacting equipment.and quot; After some discussion he grudgingly brought up that he was only charging me $1350 because of the Angie's List discount.. <br /> I would have willingly paid the full amount and more to have the job done the way I wanted it. It has taken more than $150 to hire help to move that mountain by hand. More importantly, I understood something very different than what actually happened. This was a very disappointing end to what had been an excellent experience. If I do business with this company again I will insist on having a written bid. <br />"

"Service was provided very soon after we signed with A-1. It took most of one day but the installers were very friendly and worked steadily until done. Everything was clean before they left. At an earlier time, we had A-1 fix a shower drain, and that was done quickly and well. The employees and owners are very proud of their company and do a great job of maintaining its reputation. <br />"

They were able to replace our old water heater with a new, A.O. Smith 50 gallon heater by the middle of the afternoon the same day. We are extremely pleased with the entire process- from the phone conversations all the way through the service technician who installed the new heater. The heater fits perfectly in the old space even with the new plumbing required for the job. Gray Wolf has our enthusiastic recommendation!!"
