"It was an interesting experience. 
My initial appointment with Rick (the owner)  to review the job. He was on time to the agreed appointment. I thought it went well. I provided details on where I wanted the gate installed and agreed on a design for the gate. 
A few days later, I received a call that they were ready to go and I told them to proceed. I came home that day to find the gate post in the wrong location. Not good. After some communication, the gate post was ripped out and I reiterated my instruction on where the gate was to go. That was the last I saw of Rick.
  
However, the reputation of this company was saved, in my opinion by the follow up and attentiveness of the next program manager - Cristi. She was very helpful and drove the project to completion, despite some shenanigans from San Jose City Permit people.   Very happy with the gate and its operation.
Further update 12-08-14 - after a few days of rain, the wooden panels on the gate started to swell and the gate fell apart!!! I contacted the company and was told I was a priority and this would be attended to as soon as possible.  As of 12-30, nothing has been done to correct this.

"The springs on my garage door broke Friday evening and I requested quotes on Yelp. Dean was the only company who could replace the springs on Saturday. Dean called me at 1:24PM and told me he can be at my house between 4PM and 6PM. Dean arrived a little after 5:00PM and replaced the springs by 5:40PM. He even checked the hardware on the garage door, lubricated the rollers, and adjusted the motor of the garage door opener. Dean was very courteous & professional and took the time to answer all the questions we had about the garage door and its maintenance. "It went very well. Dave, the owner, is very focused on customer service. The crew showed up on time on the appointed day and they were very professional and courteous. I didn't realize Nor-Cal Maintenance fixes screens and the crew noticed I had several that were in bad shape. I'd been planning on finding another contractor for this, so was more than happy to have Nor-Cal Maintenance take care of it. They took the screens and delivered them back the same day. Then they took five more screens that I remembered were stashed in my garage. My roof, house, and windows all look great. I'm a happy customer and will definitely call Nor-Cal Maintenance in the future."

"This is the 3rd year in a row I've used Rhino Hauling.  The guys always confirm the appointment, show-up on time, bring adequate help and clean up after themselves.  I am so happy with their service.  They have competitive prices and do a great job without fail. I'm sure I'll be giving the guys a call next year for my annual clean out.

"We have never seen such quality work.  Our retaining wall holds up a steep hillside.  Two prior retaining walls had failed.  I know the retaining wall that LEBEC designed and constructed will never fail.   LEBEC designed and built a special keyway retaining wall (like a keel on a boat).  The wall was reinforced with 5/8 inch thick rebar that was completely tied together and that also had "J bars".  They also used a special wicking type material on the back side of the wall to carry water away from the wall.  They also used perforated pipe wrapped in filter fabric and 3/8 crushed drain rock behind the wall.  I have never seen such excellent construction, even on very large construction projects.  Armando was the supervisor, and he was working on the project the entire time.  Armando has 30 years of experience and it showed.  Everything was done in a smart and efficient way.  Armando and his crew had to drive a very long way in Bay Area traffic to get to our home but they still arrived early and worked hard all day long. Armando is bilingual so it was very easy to communicate with him.  Armando and his crew became our friends and we were happy to see them come each day.  They would always leave our home and yard neat and clean when they left each day.  We were so happy with their work that we have signed a second contract with LEBEC for a second retaining wall.

"Darrin fixed an increasingly problematic front door mortise lock. Works swell now; it was a toughie. He also fixed two other outside door locks that had been iffy. Prior repairman who had installed the locks and doors didn't do a great job. Now we have working and locking doors. Spiffy. I thought the price was very reasonable. He was professional and knowledgeable. Will hire him again for any lock issues. I wish I had done this over a year ago instead of dreading it (afraid we would have to replace the locks or doors)."

"The Plus:  Reed Brothers Security has a retail store where you can see a wide array of home security devices, from deadbolts, safety doors, alarms and safes, to safety doors and alarm systems.  The men who came to install our safe were pleasant and took a difficult installation in stride.  I thought our closet floor was wood, but it turned out to be wood over concrete.
The Minus:  I had expected a telephone call to schedule installation of our new safe, but never received a call.  I finally contacted Reed Brothers Security on the Friday of the week that they were supposed to call.  I was told they'd called several times, which might have been the case, but they never left a message.  We scheduled an appointment for today, Tuesday, between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.  No one had called or had shown up by 9:20, so I telephoned them.  I was told their installer hadn't shown up and they were looking for someone else and they'd get back to me.  Ultimately, they did send my safe out, but I would have appreciated a call that they'd be so late.  
Their installation fees are high, I think.  The initial charge is $170 for 1/2 hour and labor is added to that.  There is an extra charge of, I think, $37 for Saturday appointments."
