"Exceeded my Expectations. Charles and his Step By Step crew did 2 jobs for me. a 25'x30' blue stone patio, with gas firepit, sitting wall and drainage. Then did a 12'x12 Hot Tub Pad. couldn't be happier. will enjoy for years to come. Charles is young, but knowledgeable and professional. His main goal is customer satisfaction and to grow his business with happy customers!! He nailed it with me. Thanks Charles"

Customers say: Terrific value

"We called and booked this company for snow removal. Told me paying thru Angi made things ?more difficult because they pay to advertise and get hit with fees for doing work?. I was not thrilled with this comment but it was getting late in the afternoon with freezing weather and more snow possible. Between a rock and and hard ice ball for sure. Live and learn. He comes rolling up 25 minutes late in a large truck with a white bobcat type tractor on the trailer for 6 inches (max) of snow to be removed on a double car garage. (Two single unit doors). I told him specifically I had an appointment (cardiology follow up) at certain time. I usually never leave workers alone to do the work for the very reason of Wed hat happened. Not only was he late, He left over 10 blade marks on the driveway, which were unable to be removed with power washing this summer. On the north door he plowed through the garage door?s metal facing & into the wood frame of the house. It was ?repaired? (covered to not notice it just by a quick peek by the metal being turned back into placement) but the wood gouge wasn?t going away. The southern door was also bumped with the blade?s tooth but left only a small dent. Only when outside looking at the garage would someone notice the damage. It wasn?t there before and weirdly fit a bobcat tooth, I didn?t see the damage when I paid thru Venmo, He never said anything about damaging the facings of the garages or driveway.. Iit still hasn?t been repaired because it?s too small of a job (even with the garage pros). He showed up late , left our home damaged, and took $50 off the $200 charge (because it only took 15 minutes). Unbeknownst to us about the damage, which is going to cost way more than $50 to replace. I marked both facings at snow level and the damages were at those exact heights. Asked about the mark.. Didn?t exactly deny but never responded afterward to any texts. I watched him remove 3 buckets of snow on the lower driveway, very quickly and somewhat recklessly. I talked to him before I had to leave. I warned him not the get too close with the cat blade to the garage because the snow wasn?t close to the garage. Added to be careful and to slow down. He said I was just working my way up to the highest snow before the sun dropped begins the houses. Late afternoon winter appointment leaves early sunsets but he had plenty of time to do the work before it was even dusk. FYI, he mentioned his company wasn?t doing small landscaping anymore and focusing on major jobs now. Precise? Not exactly precise or honest. Would not hire the company again. Would rather have the heart attack that started when shoveling two shovels worth than to hire this company for anything again."

FAQs for excavation major grading or resloping projects in Greensboro, NC

You can excavate in winter, but frozen soil slows down the process and increases labor costs. Many grading companies offer discounted rates during their off-season, so ask for a winter quote and weigh the savings against a longer timeline. A brief conversation with a local professional will help determine whether cold-weather excavation is suitable for your site.

Foundation digs can be completed in as little as three days or take up to three weeks. Soil density, access, weather, and hidden obstacles all play a role, so every timeline is a bit different. Have your contractor walk the site and flag any potential issues early—clear expectations help keep both the schedule and budget on track.

You must always call 811 before excavating. Dial 811 a few days in advance so that utility crews can mark underground lines and ensure the area is safe for digging. Hitting a buried cable or gas pipe can be both dangerous and expensive, and many municipalities will not issue permits unless the site is flagged correctly.

To remove soil during an excavation project, your crew will load the spoil into dump trucks with a backhoe or excavator, haul it to a disposal site, and return for the next load. Efficient hauling keeps the work zone clear and the project moving. Depending on the site and volume of osil, multiple trucks may rotate to maintain a steady flow.
