"We had a hot water tank that was leaking slowly. It was not an emergency but needed to be replaced before going on vacation in a week. Jack the owner and his associate are very professional, reliable, knowledgeable, honest Christian and very reasonable and fair. They got it done. I highly recommend Moretto Plumbing and Design. He even called the next day to make sure everything was good. You will not be disappointed."

"The actual repairs went well. The toilet was fixed by replacing a seal and took less than 15 minutes. The scald guard took less than 2 minutes to correct. The technician spent about 15-20 minutes looking at the faucet and attempting to get the leak to stop but could not get it stopped. So the technician explained he could replace the cartridge but that may not fix the problem and a new faucet would be needed. If that did not work we would still have to pay for the cartridge as it would then be "used" even if it did not fix the problem. We opted to just have a new faucet put on and as we were not given a choice in the faucet we assumed it would be the same brand/type and metal that was being replaced. He did not have one with him so we made arrangements for him to come out the next morning and replace it. He was right on time promptly at 8:00am and got the faucet replaced. The faucet that was taken off was a Moen two handle brushed nickel faucet. The faucet that replaced it is a Delta, shiny chrome and single handle. I was not consulted at all about the brand/type of faucet, they just changed it which took about 30 minutes. Then when I asked how much I owed I was told that they would send the bill in the mail. When the bill was received about 5 days later the cost was $387. I was charged $150 for the faucet and 3 hours of labor much to my surprise since the actual time the technician was in my home working was just a little over 1 hour total. The bill also stated that they charged from the time they left their building until the plumber got back to the building. Now this is the first time I have ever been charged for travel time especially for a local business. And the guy must have been crawling if it took that long to get to and from our house as we are only about 15 minutes total away from the building. Overall the work is done and the bill has been paid but I felt they were very unprofessional in that they did not explain this charge for travel time when I contacted them and I was never even asked about what type/brand/color of faucet I wanted. I will never hire Dewey and Sons again because of these things. If they had been up front with everything I may have considered them again in the future but as it is, no way!"

"They were not prompt. We scheduled an appointment and he showed up a day and 2 hours early. Luckily I was here, so they came and did the job. We just had a personality conflict. I'm sure that his work was just fine but he didn't actually attach it into the hole. He was very expensive. I have had plumbing issues since and I had used a different plumber and I will continue to use them but will never use Royal Flush again."

"We call them once a year to make sure that everything's fine, but we don't have a contract. The check up was very thorough and we were very pleased, is around $150. We had him 3 years now. We like them very much. I don't think their price was out of line. It's a general maintenance to make sure that you don't have a breakdown on the hottest day of the year or the coldest day of the winter. I mean, it's just smart to take good care of things. One person comes out to do the service. I'm sure they would send more if there was a problem, but this is just a check up."

"I hired them to find a leak in my pool. Louis Martin was assigned to my job. He called and asked if he could come early to the appointment (pleasant suprise). When he and his assistant arrived they got right to work running diagnostic tests of the plumbing. When that found nothing he donnned scuba gear and soon found the leak (behind the pool light). Patched cleaned up and were out of there. Very professional, very pleasant - gave me his card to call with further issues. Could not reccomend more."

"It went very well. After a bit of a wait, I received a very comprehensive report of 88 specific items as well as bacteria, fungi and particles. Each Item detected over the EPA drinking water limits had an explanation sheet. Also provided was a contact person at the company to address any questions you had about the report findings. I thought the service was well worth the $300 just for the peace of mind. I intend to use the company on an annual basis going forward."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Harriet, AR

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
