"We just had our first lawn treatment with Rutland Turf. The technician, Matthew, was very knowledgeable, professional, and personable. He explained in detail what treatments he was going to put on the lawn. Matthew did a very thorough job making sure he treated all areas of our lawn. Rutland Turf has some very good equipment for their techs to use, and Matt was adept at using the ride-on lawn spreader/sprayer. We're very pleased with his work today! We have a small landscaping project that we'll be contacting Rutland about. After seeing the quality of their work today, we won't hesitate to have them give us a price for another project."

"We are huge fans of Simply Safer Lawn Care. We bought our house 6 years ago and our yard was overrun with ticks--one of my children contracted Lyme disease within a month of moving in. We worked with Simply Safer to create a plan that rid our yard of ticks but still allowed our kids to play outside safely without too many chemicals. We use their services for aeration, weed and grub control, and other maintenance throughout the growing season, and our lawn looks great. The service technicians are always thorough and pleasant. This is a great company to work with."

"
I had several trees that needed trimming or removing, including one in close proximity to the house so a crane was needed for the trimming job. They came by and provided a quote promptly and was able to accommodate my request to schedule the job within less than a week. Several of the smaller trees had grown through a fence which I expected would be destroyed in the process of removing them but Mike's team was able to carry out the removal task while preserving most of the fence. The work was complete in timely fashion and they did a great job of clearing all debris.

"

"Turf Unlimited came to our condo association to provide a free estimate to install irrigation to cover the front lawn area and drip system to water bushes and plants in the side and front beds. The estimate included an assessment of Lexington town water PSI to support irrigation, parts list (indoor clock which was easy to program, valves, rotors, MP rotator, drip tubing, and rain sensor), labor to install the system, and after-installation service.
Turf Unlimited was awarded this contract in a competitive bid that included four other service providers (the 6th no bid). They were selected primarily for (1) the use of flexible irrigation pipe to minimize damage to existing lawn and landscaping (one other contractor also bid this approach), (2) price, and (3) product and labor warranty. In retrospect, Turf Unlimited exhibited other significant attributes such as: (4) professionalism and customer care, and (5) after-installation service. While actual installation took a little over four hours, the entire process spanned four weeks (Week 1 or end of May - estimate of work, Week 3 - compliance with City ordnance to dig, and Week 4 or mid-June - installation). I discovered this timeframe kicks off the landscape industry's busy season. My suggestion would be to plan early and schedule irrigation installation no later than mid-May to avoid the rush and to enjoy longer your nicely hydrated landscaping.
In planning for the successful execution of this job on behalf of our condo association, I learned the following:
a. We decided NOT to install a separate meter at a savings of $800 to $1500 for a plumber. However, this requires condo associations to have a strict understanding of how the host condo would be reimbursed. As there is only one other condo in our association, this was not a problem. If you are in a single family dwelling be prepared for a bit of sticker shock regarding your water consumption.
b. The flexible pipe allows for faster installation (over rigid PVC pipes) as they are pulled through under your lawn eliminating the need for deep, open trenches for the rigid pipes. This also means the flexible pipe is closer to the surface, may become exposed hence subject to damage by lawn mowers and such equipment, and if not serviced properly, could be damaged by freezing temperatures. Since we have a lawn mowing company, I included them in the planning of our irrigation system.
c. With flexible pipes, you need a robust warranty and after-installation service, preferably by the installer, as pipes need to be blown out by compressed air at the end of the season and refreshed at the beginning. This could mean a long-term relationship with Turf Unlimited to preclude voiding the 3-year warranty. As they proved to be efficient and professional in scheduling and following through, this became a positive.
In summary, Turf Unlimited exceeded our expectations for product and service and I/we would highly recommend them.
"

"We are very pleased with the mowing and organic soil treatments. Organic Soil Solutions is owned by Mike Murphy, who is intelligent and very knowledgeable about the needs of grass and soil. After each treatment, the worker puts an 8 1/2" x 11" printed sheet in our mailbox detailing what was done and what the purpose of the treatment is. This helps to educate us as what our grass and soil needs are. The company believes in "mowing high" so that our grass stays healthy and doesn't get as brown in hot weather. They mow reliably and come regularly. The yard always looks wonderful when they finish. Mike has treated some broad-leaf weeds with an organic solution that has helped to kill them.

The company planted approximately 30 Hicks Yews around the perimeter of our backyard a few years ago. Because the plants sold to them from a nursery were not healthy (Org. Soil Solutions had an arborist come to look at the roots), they all died. They were replaced with healthy plants at no cost to us and these plants are doing beautifully. The following year we had more yews planted on another side of our lot and they, too, are doing very well. They were all planted very neatly, in a very straight line, and in exactly the places we wanted them.

The snow plowing, just started last year, is going well. We appreciate having our sidewalks cleared as well as our long driveway free of snow. They do a fine job at this, in a timely fashion after a snowstorm.

We have found the responsiveness of Organic Soil Solutions to be especially exemplary. Mike or his son, James, are easy to reach and they respond to requests and any problems in a very timely fashion. We find Mike/James easy to get along with and really nice people, as well as being professional and capable in the landscaping business.

"

"I replaced my front walkway and the plan was to replace the lawn when that was done. I found Chris via an ad in the local newspaper.
He was SUPER responsive and very helpful every step of the way. Very knowledgeable about the lawn replacement process.
I also wanted an irrigation install which Chris coordinated for me along with the work he was going to do, that was very helpful!
While the lawn was growing he would come and take a look every once and a while to make sure all was well, along with telling me if I needed to adjust the water, etc....

We had a huge downpour that washed away some of the hydroseed, he was there to fix that right away!! Excellent service!

The work was great and the lawn came in very nicely!

I am still working with him for some slice seeding to give the lawn that final touch! I hope to be able to have him do other work for me in the future.

Thanks Chris!!!!"

"I first contacted Arborway Tree Service late last year to have them look at the large Oak tree in my side yard. I wanted to know if the tree was in good condition (I had just moved into the house the year before) or if it would eventually have to be removed. This would have been a large undertaking since the tree is about 40 feet tall, and covers a good part of the yard. They came out and told me that I had a beautiful, healthy Red Oak tree. They did a root fertilization on the tree for the winter. I contacted them again this past summer about pruning the tree. It had a lot of dead wood and had grown over the telephone wires and the roof. I hired them to do the pruning. They came out a couple of weeks ago. They went right to work. They pruned quite a bit of the tree, going up into the tree, walking on branches to reach the areas to be cut, and mulched it all in a wood chipper. I am very happy with the way the tree was pruned and with the way the men just went to work and completed the job. I would definitely use them again. I really like the tree and hope to keep it around for a long time"
