"<p>I used Outdoor Expressions about four years ago to landscape my front yard. Because of the exceptional work, I contacted them when I was ready to landscape my back yard. The landscaper has extensive knowledge of trees, shrubs, and plants, and has a very professional crew. They prepared the beds for planting, planted the trees and shrubs, and mulched the beds all in one day. When they were done, there was nothing left for me to have to clean up. I am totally satisfied with Outdoor Expressions and highly recommend them.</p> <br />"

"He drew it and took pics of himself doing it otherwise we wouldn't believe even drew it. It looks like a photograph. We've never seen anything like it. He's amazing. He has also hand drawn pictures of my wedding and of my grand father for his funeral service."

"They come 4 times a year on this plan. It runs about $82.00 each time they come on the rotation. We live on the edge of the wood, so we do have little critters and the occasional carpenter ants. If I notice something that I am not happy with, I can call them anytime and they will come out for no extra charge. The plan they have is to come, and they break it up into 4 different times of the year, obviously there is no point in coming out in December and January, and that is something like $82.00 per visit if we buy the 4-visit plan. They look for ants coming in or if I tell them that I have seen ants coming from someplace else, they do that. They set little sticky traps for the little mice that wander in somehow in my basement. My two cats apparently are not mousers. Although, one of them did bring us first a very fresh and live mouse and dropped it down on the bed at 11 o'clock at night. I wrapped it up in a sock and put it outside. A little while later he brought my husband a very dead mouse. That was the only time my cat did that. As I said, living on the edge of the wood, he goes around the outside of the house with some granules just making a barrier against ants, he will spray for stinging insects, take down wasps nests, dig out bees nests in the ground, we are always getting those. I have a gazebo outside and there is some kind of bee that drills. I thought somebody was drilling holes with a drill because the holes were so perfectly concentric. I asked him to get rid of them because he said those were the kind of bees that drill into our house. He is not supposed to go out and do yard stuff. But because I have a pond with fish in it, he does make a wide circle around that. I had mice for years in the ceiling when I was in the basement right over my desk. They couldn't seem to find them. Anybody can set out a little trap, but I have just decided to have them do it because I can afford to choose them. Probably, everything they do someone else could do themselves if they did it with care and knew what they were doing. The thing I trust them to do is know their product and what's to be applied where and when, they can get under door sills to spray in there, they've got the equipment to do that and I don't. Not that that's a big deal. But anyway, I am happy enough with them. I am not going to bother to try and change. He is here maybe 25 minutes making his rounds unless he has to take down a nest. As I say, someone could it for pennies comparatively on their own. But, I don't know, just getting people to show up in our driveway for $80.00 seems to be getting difficult. I would use them again."

FAQs for holiday lighting add or remove projects in Haslett, MI

If climbing ladders or handling wiring isn’t in your comfort zone, hire a pro. Look for installers who post clear per-foot or hourly rates, carry insurance, and have solid reviews. Comparing at least three quotes helps you spot fair pricing without sacrificing safety. Skipping credentials to save a few dollars can cost you far more in repairs, so pick a qualified team and enjoy a safe, eye-catching display.

Yes, booking between February and September often scores lower rates because demand is light and pros have open calendars. You might even negotiate a discount package that includes removal or storage. If the budget is tight, ask whether a handyperson or an off-season permanent-light install makes sense for your home and timeline.

Determining the number of holiday lights for your house depends on your home’s size and specific decorative vision. Your project requires 10 to 20 light strands for a basic exterior display, with 100 lights allocated for eaves and an additional 10 to 20 bulbs for each awning.

For trees and substantial shrubs, allocate five to 10 strands per unit to achieve complete and balanced illumination across your property.

Tipping isn’t mandatory, but it’s a nice way to thank your installer for a job well done. Most homeowners offer 10% to 20% of the total bill or round up to an even figure if the crew exceeds expectations. A small extra goes a long way toward showing appreciation—and may help you snag priority booking next season.

Yes, you can install holiday lights yourself if your property layout is straightforward and your electrical system is secure. Homeowners who are confident in their ability to safely handle wiring and use proper equipment can save money with a DIY approach.

However, it is crucial to test all outlets thoroughly and secure the proper ladders and safety gear before starting. Careful planning and adherence to safety guidelines are essential to protect yourself and your home while achieving an attractive display.

Start by clearing the area of loose debris, damaged shingles, and anything that could trip you up. Test outdoor outlets and, if you’re unsure, bring in an electrician. Use a sturdy extension ladder (or scaffolding for very high spots) and never work alone—having a helper steady the ladder is non-negotiable. Taking these simple steps keeps you, your roof, and your new lights safe.
