"See above and very good! Repaired a roof leak installed new flashing. Also tacked down and sealed all pipes coming through roof and repaired that flashing. Gave us pictures of what was wrong so we could see prior to repair. Pleased with repair and friendly courteous professional workers."

"They sent out a crew to check the next day. The guys that came out were on time and very courteous (asked if they should remove shoes which I greatly appreciated). They suggested that the window seal was leaking and use a silicone sealant. If it doesn't work replace. We plan to take their advice. I called based on Angie's List reviews and was not disappointed. I would highly recommend getting an estimate from them. I cannot say anything on work completed yet but I will be calling them again if our DIY repairs don't work."

"Great customer service their sales person came out within 2 days of calling for an estimate. He was very helpful throughout the entire process. We set up a date that was only a few short weeks after we called. A large group of workers showed up were polite and were done with our new roof in half of a day.Nails and materials were cleaned up great! I was worried about the kids stepping on a nail but only found maybe a few in the landscaping. Called a year later about info on warranty we purchased and again customer service was outstanding. We have recommended Bob's to many friends and family who have also had a great experience! <br />"

"Once you are a customer over there and you have a problem they come back and they fix it cheaply and that can be 10 years ago or 15 years later. They will find the part, they will match it and they will fix it and they are reasonable. Ryan took care of it with the insurance company. They stand behind their work and they stay behind their product."

"Mr. Haas identified problems in our roof installation and issued a report. He suggested re-install and steps that we should take to get it done. It was a long process that involved county and DPOR. Mr. Haas was very helpful every step during the entire process. He is highly experienced and very responsive to our calls, text, and email. We eventually got the roof reinstalled in a very good quality. Mr. Haas was onsite multiple times to ensure the right materials and methods were used. It would not be possible without the help from Mr. Haas."

"Due to a very heavy snow in early December the snow on the roof was at least 2 feet deep in most places and ice dams had begun to form.  Clearing was done with shovels and chisels. They were very careful to avoid damaging the roof and vents. They worked without any safety harnesses which was a concern for me, but apparently not for them. They did quite a nice job cleaning and moving snow and ice from the driveway as it was moved off the roof.  It had warmed up the day that they arrived and the snow had become quite waterlogged and very heavy. I was glad it was them and not me moving it.  $800 may seem like a lot, but it was less than what many were charging and many thousands less than a repair if water had entered the house."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Hayfield, MN

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
