"Very impressed with responsiveness, professionalism, technology, and value provided by Gunner Roofing. The copper flashing was pulling away from around my chimney and looked like it was in need of repair or replacement. I had previously worked with another well reviewed roofing company on Angie's List that missed my scheduled appointment to examine my chimney flashing. So I was very pleased when Andrew from Gunner showed up exactly when promised, and I was quite fascinated with his use of a drone to take precise aerial photographs of the work to be performed from all angles - a rather tech savvy approach. Gunner provided a detailed estimate within hours, that was only 1/3 the cost of the estimate I ultimately received from that other roofer. Gunner Roofing completed the work on time, and did a very satisfactory job. This was a relatively modest project, but based on my experience, I hope to use Gunner Roofing when it comes time to redo my entire roof."

"It’s with the utmost confidence that we can recommend Belles Construction Company, Inc. of Wilkes Barre, PA. We had an existing roof that needed to be replaced. Mr. Robert Belles came out to inspect our roof and to discuss the replacement. He is extremely personable and compared with two other quotes, the price he quoted was very fair. He said they never re-roof over existing shingles, always taking off the old ones so that they can inspect the roof first. He has a team of 6 highly skilled men who have worked together for years, a testament to the strength of the company. They are a great team of men, all working with a precision that is amazing to watch. In redoing the roof, they completely stripped one side and re-roofed it before going on to the other side. At no time was our roof left with a tarp over it to cover an exposed roof. They came between 7:15 AM and 7:30 AM each day so that they could have time to set up the scaffolding and prepare for work. Aside from a lunch break, they worked steadily the entire day. Our roof was done in two days. Both days they did a thorough clean-up job, too. At the end of the cleanup, they used a large magnet to sweep both sides of the house, especially the driveway, so that no nails were left. The inspector came out to check on their work the first day. He told Bob there was no need for him to return the next day. Bob and his crew were doing work above what other roofers do and that he was completely satisfied. We couldn’t have been more pleased with our re-roofing experience. Don’t hesitate to call Bob for a quote."

"Great! I had them look at my gutters about adding flashing and they showed that the original contractor did not install flashing at all! Behind my gutters Also showed me the improper work done by the people that repaired my roof. I really appreciate their honesty and excellent work Would use again and highly recommend."

"Dave is a AMAZING. I had a flood in my home and didn't know the first thing about submitting a claim to my homeowner's insurance. I hired Dave to serve as my public adjuster and he dealt with my insurance company and their adjuster. From the moment I contacted him, Dave was responsive, professional, and a pleasure to work with. He came out asap, assessed the damage in my home, and arranged for remediation services to dry the water damaged areas. He then worked with the claims inspector from my homeowner's insurance, cataloguing the damage and negotiating prices for replacements and repairs. When Dave came out to meet with the inspector, he noticed that one of the walls that had been remediated wasn't completely dry so he immediately arranged to have the remediation company come back out and dry it out completely. Dave is extremely knowledgeable and he walked me through every step of the process. He negotiated an excellent payout from my insurance company that was more than sufficient to repair the damage to my home. Even after the claim was negotiated and his job was technically done, Dave was always available to answer any questions I had. The process of hiring a contractor for these repairs took longer than expected and Dave checked in periodically and offered helpful advice and guidance. At one point, when I was having difficulty navigating the process of dealing with my homeowner's insurance, Dave even offered to step in and serve as my representative to make sure that things were okay. Dave made a daunting process much, much easier and far less stressful. He is an absolute treasure."

"My initial contact with Leelands was 10 years ago. I really admired the work they had done on my neighbors house. I just couldn't afford slate repair or replacement at the time. The employees were always courteous and patient. Fast forward to May 2018, I had exhausted all the patching my roof could take. I contacted Leelands, Donna promptly scheduled Luke to come out for an estimate. Luke was on time and provided honest feedback. I recieved a Photo Report, Field Condition Report and Proposals a few weeks later. It took me a few more months to decide how to proceed. In October, Leelands sent Gabriel and Miguel to make the repairs. They were prompt, courteous and worked diligently to finish the job. After a rainy 2018, my roof is still leak free."

FAQs for roofing installation & roof repair projects in Hazleton, PA

An average Cape Cod roof-raising project requires approximately two to three months from start to finish. The timeline depends on several variables, including weather conditions, contractor availability, material delivery schedules, and the specific complexity of your home's structure. The process involves multiple phases, including demolition, framing, roofing, window installation, and interior finishing. Working with an experienced contractor who provides a detailed timeline can help set realistic expectations for the project duration.

While most Cape Cod homes can accommodate roof-raising modifications, each house requires individual structural assessment. Older homes may need foundation reinforcement or wall strengthening before supporting additional weight. Factors like the existing roof framing system, load-bearing wall placement, and overall structural integrity all influence feasibility. A qualified structural engineer should evaluate your specific property before proceeding with design plans. Additionally, local zoning ordinances may restrict maximum building height or architectural modifications in certain neighborhoods.

Temporary relocation is highly recommended during a Cape Cod roof raising project. The construction process involves removing portions of your existing roof, exposing interior spaces to potential weather damage, and creating significant noise and dust. Most homeowners find temporary accommodations for the two to three-month construction period, with relocation costs ranging from $2,000 to $6,000, depending on your housing choices. If staying with family or friends isn't possible, budget for short-term rental or extended-stay hotel expenses as part of your overall project cost.

Consider roof raising when you experience severely limited headroom throughout the second floor, find yourself constantly stooping under sloped ceilings, or have minimal usable floor space due to low ceiling heights. Other indicators include inadequate natural light, poor ventilation, and difficulty accommodating standard furniture in upstairs rooms. Simple renovations can improve an attic's appearance, but cannot create additional headroom without structural modifications. A complete roof-raising project makes more sense than cosmetic renovations if you're seeking genuine second-floor living space rather than just storage improvements.

Begin your search by seeking contractors with specific experience in Cape Cod structural modifications and dormer additions. Request detailed portfolios showing similar completed projects and ask for references from previous clients with comparable work. Verify that potential contractors hold appropriate licenses and insurance coverage and understand local building codes relevant to roof raising. Interview multiple candidates, comparing price quotes and their communication style, project approach, and proposed timeline. The ideal contractor should demonstrate a thorough understanding of Cape Cod architectural characteristics and structural requirements.
