"They did a fantastic job installing the lights. They even came back in the spring to check the placement and trim back any bushes that may be interfering with the lights."

"Great! Nick is very professional from recommendations made to installation and the work done wax exactly what we wanted. We were very pleased with the entire process. They even put mulch around 2 of our trees as a courtesy. Clean up was immaculate. I would definitely recommend Nick Plummer at Yaardvark for any landscaping needs."

"Mr. Electric provided 5 star, first-rate service for the replacement of my distribution box and installed (4) additional outlets around the exterior of my house. The workmanship of Steven Leavins was simply marvelous and very professional done. I selected Mr. Electric over Dixie Electric, McGehee Electric and R&H Electric for the following reasons: • The survey technician, Steven Leavins, was friendly and conducted a fairly thorough survey of the work to be done. This is important because it prevents rework and unnecessary delays in completing the work. • Their estimate was very detail, well structured, and nicely presented. Usually, how the presentation (in this case documentation) is delivered reflects the quality of workmanship you can expect. • Quick response/reply. Mr. Electric responded to my initial query within hours as was your estimate. The other companies took 1-2 days to provide an estimate. This is impressive given the nice job done on the estimate. I was not disappointed in my choice. Steven Leavins was awesome! His work, attitude, and self-pride are worthy of acknowledgement. I'm not easy to please, but Mr. Electric and the team (namely Steven) delivered as promised and as I expected. Really, if you want some electric work done call Mr. Electric first. Oh, yeah, the company is very reasonable. I promise you will love the workmanship (and the people)."

"Lyle Robinson(owner) thought it was important enough to come look at our project. I could tell right a way here's a man who knows about generators. He knew that a natural gas generator runs on volume NOT pressure. (something other companies did not have a clue about) He is also a Generac Dealer. Lyle gave me a turnkey price for the complete project - gas line - electric change over - everything that is needed to make this project happen. and I accepted on the spot. Lyle and his team of professionals started on time - finished on time and on budget. No hidden cost. Just a quality job. And I would highly recommend their services to anyone."

Small jobs welcome

"They installed both sod, an irrigation system and then installed lights in my front yard. They did everything they said they would do and on time. They kept me updated every day, as I was at work most of the time. They went above and beyond to make sure my lawn and lights were installed before Thanksgiving! Very professional and very customer-service oriented."

FAQs for outdoor lighting plan and installation projects in Hermitage, TN

Permit requirements for outdoor lighting vary depending on your location and project scope. Simple fixture replacements don't require permits, but projects involving new electrical circuits, extensive trenching, or significant system expansions often do. Local building departments establish these requirements, and many professional electricians handle permit applications as part of their service package.

The timeline for outdoor lighting installation varies based on project complexity. Basic systems might require only one to two days for complete installation, while extensive lighting networks with numerous fixtures and complex wiring needs could extend to a week or longer. Weather conditions, property accessibility, and soil characteristics can all influence how quickly professionals can complete your installation.

Outdoor lighting offers both practical and aesthetic benefits that many homeowners find valuable. Beyond enhancing nighttime visibility and security, well-designed lighting can highlight architectural features and extend outdoor living hours. While installation represents a significant investment, quality lighting may potentially increase property appeal and could contribute to overall home value.

Some outdoor lighting projects are suitable for homeowner installation, particularly simple solar fixtures or low-voltage systems that plug into existing outlets. However, projects requiring new electrical connections, permanent wiring, or integration with home electrical systems demand professional expertise. Electrical work carries inherent safety risks, and improper installation could create fire hazards or code violations.

The operating cost for outdoor lighting depends primarily on your fixture types, bulb selection, and usage patterns. Energy-efficient LED fixtures consume significantly less electricity than traditional incandescent or halogen alternatives. Controlling your lighting with timers, photocells, or motion sensors can further reduce energy usage by ensuring lights operate only when needed or beneficial.
