"Dean is the real deal. We had a complicated bathroom remodel. A remodel plan that I changed a couple of times along the way. He is super patient and the work was beyond expectations. I will be asking Dean to help with future projects. I highly recommend Dean to assist with your future projects and already have recommended him to close friends. Thanks Dean!!!"

"Excellent, no problems. My car was new the first year I used the service and there has never been any damage during the transports. The men picking up and delivering the car have always been pleasant and cooperative. Both Ely and Guy at United Transport has been highly responsive to my needs. I would highly recommend this company."

"We hired Burry's Waterproofing several months ago to install a sump pump/waterproofing system in our basement since we noticed several leaks coming at the basement floor. Mr. Burry was extremely knowledgeable in the issues we were having and provided an excellent explanation as to why it was occurring and of the work to be performed and what we should expect afterwards. He also provided an informational packet that included a description of the warranty he provides for his services, which is exceptional. We sought out several estimates for this job and felt most at ease with Mr. Burry, not to mention his pricing is very competitive. His work crew was top notch and extremely courteous. I decided to wait several months to write this review so as to provide an accurate idea of how well the basement is staying dry. Prior to Mr. Burry's waterproofing, our basement would get water in it whenever we had heavy rain or rain that lasted a few days. In the 9 months or so since completion, we haven't found one drop of water in the basement. Moreover, the basement air feels cleaner and dryer. We are so pleased that we got it done! Aside from the quality of the work, sitting down to learn about basement waterproofing with Mr. Burry was a nice experience. As a first time homebuyer trying to "do all my homework" prior to making updates to my home, it felt like sitting down with someone who really cared about making our home a better place because he cared about us as people. That's something money can't buy. Thanks, Mr. Burry!"

FAQs for second story addition building service projects in Hershey, PA

For many homeowners, building up is worth the expense because it provides the extra bedrooms or living areas that can’t be accommodated within the existing footprint. A larger, updated home often commands a higher resale price, recouping a sizable share of the project cost while allowing you to stay in the neighborhood you love. Run the numbers with a real estate agent and contractor to ensure the expected return and day-to-day benefits align with your goals.

Whether it makes more sense to build up or out depends on your lot, budget, and local code. Building up preserves yard space and involves less foundation work, but you may need to vacate the home during construction. Building out avoids staircases and can proceed while you stay put; however, it encroaches on the yard and may face setback limits. Compare both options with your contractor before making a decision.

A structural engineer will first inspect the existing foundation for cracks, footings, and load capacity. Depending on the findings, the crew may pour new concrete footings, install steel or concrete piers, add reinforced beams, or tie additional rebar into the slab. These upgrades redistribute the weight of the new floor and bring the structure up to code. Your contractor will outline the specific reinforcement plan and timeline once the engineering report is complete.
