"Hamdan Quality Roofing was able to provide a great product at a very good price point. Other companies are potentially 1.5x or 2x the price. They can provide a good price because they are family owned/operated, they own a metal roll forming machine where other may not, and they make their own fittings (z-bar, ridge cap, w-valley channel, end caps, etc). It is very important to understand the differences in what you get with metal roofing products as there are so many variations and they are transparent about the different products. They can quote agricultural panels (exposed fastener panels), shingles, and standing seam (concealed fastener). I went with a 24-gauge metal standing seam (concealed fastener). They were able to put it right overtop of the first layer of shingles (with a synthetic barrier) which some other contractors may or may not quote it that way. They own their own metal roofing roll forming machine (Englert Machinery - model FP1101), they purchased large rolls of metal from CMG metals, and they had a metal bending machine in their trailer to bend their fittings (ridge cap, z-bar, w-valley flashings, drip edge, eave end cap, ect). The panels were made on site which was cool to watch. They installed S-5 Colorgard snow bars. Some hiccups with the permitting but it was approved by the township after the township dropped the ball on a couple things. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking to install a metal standing seam roof."

"Very clean and professional. The guys got the job done rather quick compared to other companies we have used in the past, but this company seems to put what is right for the customer above all else. I will be recommending Schroeder Roofing to my friends and family!"

"After high wind damage to our roof and because of a referral from a neighbor, we contacted Platinum Roofing. Matt came to look at our roof within two days – very promptly as he was concerned about possible water damage. We had a lot of damage and Matt helped us navigate through the insurance issues - even meeting with the adjuster to support our claim. Matt spends time carefully talking everything through with you. They are very professional and respectful. High quality, excellent work. They also use the FEMA high wind installation technique - no extra cost and takes a bit longer for them. Shingles will sustain up to 130 MPH winds (which is what we knew we wanted and were impressed they already had been doing this type of installation for a few years). Installed ridge vents. Great attention to detail. Finished 3,400 sq. feet in 7 hours. I highly recommend Platinum Remodeling (Roofing)."

"I contacted Mel Yoder's Home Improvement for an estimate on my home and when the gentleman came out to look at it he identified some hail damage to my roof.  I wasn't even aware there was hail damage so I was quite suprised to find out there was damage to my roof.  The insurance company came out and paid for a new roof and then when they opened the roof up they found out my roof boards weren't up to code and got the insurance company to pay for that as well.  I was extremely pleased with their work.  They did the entire job in one day so they weren't there for weeks on end.  I would recommend the Yoders again and if I ever need anything else I'll ask for Dwayne."

FAQs for heating cable for roof installation projects in Hicksville, OH

A typical heat cable uses 5 watts per foot, regardless of the outside temperature. So, if your cable is 100 feet long, it uses 500 watts per hour. Expect to pay an additional $40 to $200 or more per month on your electricity bill. Be sure to turn manual cables off in the summer when you don't need them.

To install heat tape on your roof, place it along the lower edge in a precise zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage and heat distribution. Professional installers secure the tape with specialized clips that attach firmly to your shingles. This method ensures even heat distribution to effectively melt ice and snow while maintaining your roof's integrity during severe winter conditions.

Choosing between heated gutters and roof heating cables usually comes down to budget, appearance, and performance. Heated gutters cost less to install and blend seamlessly with your home’s exterior, making them a discreet, lower-cost option for preventing ice dams. Roof heating cables deliver more customizable and powerful heat along roof edges to handle heavy snow and ice, but they require more material and labor, increasing your upfront investment. Evaluate your roof design, winter weather demands, and energy budget to select the system that works best for your property.

Roof heating cables prevent ice dams by melting snow and stopping ice buildup at the roof edge. Ice damming occurs when melting snow refreezes on a cold roof—often right above the gutter line—and blocks water from draining, which can force moisture under shingles into your home. Heating cables maintain a warm channel that clears ice dams as soon as they form and protects your roof from water damage and structural issues.

Roof heating cables last between two and ten years before replacement is needed, wearing out faster than your roof itself. Their lifespan depends on climate severity, cable type, and exposure to physical damage. Consistent inspections and preventative maintenance—such as clearing debris, tightening clips, and checking electrical connections—can extend their service life and ensure reliable snow and ice protection each winter.

To safely remove snow from your roof, start with a specially designed roof rake, standing firmly on the ground and pulling snow downhill rather than climbing onto the roof. You can also apply calcium chloride ice melt to break up stubborn ice or gently use a secured rope from a safe vantage point.

Keep in mind that large snow slabs can weigh hundreds of pounds and pose a serious fall risk. If conditions are hazardous or you lack the right equipment, hire a professional to protect your safety and your roof’s integrity.
