"I am very pleased with the roof installed on a property I recently sold. Ben, the account manager involved was very professional, and the crew involved was excellent. The job was completed faster than anticipated, and the current homeowner called me to state how pleased she was with the new Owens Corning roof, and the terrific service provided by RoofCorp. Clean up was pristine and prompt."

"The whole experience was amazing! Gary worked hard to get everything we asked for and Rick is an honest, efficient business owner, who delivered above and beyond all expectations. We’ve recommended JR’s Roofing to all our friends and family and would definitely work with them in the future."

"Hennessey Roofing did an OUTSTANDING job on our roof and skylight project! Professional and Stress-Free is their motto and this proved to be absolutely true in our case … couldn’t ask for better. Our Project Lead and Sales Manager, Donny Brown, is a consummate professional and the absolute BEST. From the time he did our estimate, through completion of our project, Donny explained the entire process clearly, kept us fully informed at all times, gave us the benefit of his extensive knowledge and experience, expertly led the installation team, and oversaw the execution of an overall EXCEPTIONAL project. The installation team was also Outstanding … totally professional and extremely courteous. They did an amazing job with the installation, as well as the clean up afterward. We now have a beautiful new roof and skylight that should last for many years to come. We HIGHLY recommend Hennessey Roofing to anyone! R&B Pagan"

"Hiring Felipe (Flash Roofing) for my stone coated steel roof was an absolute pleasure. Having a long of history of hiring contractors over the years (electrical/landscaping/insulation/plumbing/remodeling/handyman, etc), I have learned to become very cautious. After completing extensive research of Decra stone coated steel roofs (including instillation) Felipe thoroughly answered my list of questions in fullest detail leaving no question of his (and Victor's) enthusiasm for what they do, how they do it, and why. HE BREAKS IT DOWN TO THE SCIENCE!!! Not once did I detect resistance/hesitation from my questions, including when going up on the roof multiple times during their install. After receiving 3 local Denver estimates, Felipe was 5K less in cost and the best part; He included wider gutters to accommodate the new slope of the roof, 4 additional soffit vents, eliminated all attic vents with a ridge vent, replaced all existing vent caps with brand new ones (painted to match the roof color), and "Ice and Water Shield" the entire roof! In addition, he coordinated and met with the with the Solar Panel company at my home to proactively review/discuss their boot racking systems and proper ways to walk on the roof during solar panel install. With the money I saved compared to other local bids, I was more than happy to buy pizza for his crew! A big Thank You to Filipe and his entire detailed crew!!!!"

Small jobs welcome

"After asking around and getting some referrals from friends, we chose Level Up Roofing to replace our roof after a hail storm damaged it. They did an excellent job and had great communication! I loathe dealing with insurance, but they handled the insurance process and it went so smoothly! That was a huge weight off my shoulders in an already stressful situation. They did top-quality work and got it done quickly, and did excellent on cleanup afterwards. Highly recommend! Our new roof is beautiful! "

"We recently used ISP Roofing and Construction for replacement of soffits and fascia on our home in Denver, and cannot praise them enough. We live out of state, but Tyler worked closely with us to keep us up to date with pictures of the work in progress, right through to completion. The quality of work is top notch, the guys on the project left the property immaculate. If you are looking for any kind of roof replacement or repair ISP Roofing and Construction are the go to company in Colorado. Fairly priced, no hidden extras! I have to say a personal thank you to Tyler Dearman, if you are lucky enough to have him manage your project you have without doubt found a super star."

"Our experience replacing our homes roof and gutters with Heartland Construction was excellent. The communication was very responsive and thorough, as I had a lot of questions on the estimate, insurance options, roof materials, and the whole process. I walked around the roof after, and found the roof, flashing, and overall work to be quite impressive. Little things like covering all exposed nail heads with silicone was nice to see. Also, the work crews cleaned up my yard better than expected. Heartland was very responsive when I showed them some slight damage to my front porch rail, from wind knocking over the roofing crews ladder, and they sent a repair guy who fixed it. Thank you Heartland team for great service and professionalism."

FAQs for natural slate roofing installation and replacement projects in Highlands Ranch, CO

A slate roof features thin tiles of natural stone installed over a solid deck and underlayment. Formed under intense heat and pressure, slate is exceptionally durable and delivers a distinctive, high-end look. Because the material weighs far more than asphalt, most homes need added structural support before installation.

While upfront costs are higher and routine inspections are a must, many homeowners choose slate for its unmatched longevity and curb appeal.

Slate stands out for its 50- to 200-year life span, low maintenance, and classic aesthetic. It’s fire-resistant, energy-efficient, and often boosts resale value.

On the flip side, slate runs far more per square foot than asphalt, weighs up to four times as much, and demands a contractor who specializes in the material. Tiles can crack on impact, and repairs cost more because the work is slow and precise. If your budget and structure can handle it, slate delivers top-tier performance for generations.

Natural and synthetic slate aim for a premium, stone-like appearance, whereas asphalt focuses on affordability. Real slate runs $10 to $30 per square foot installed and lasts up to 200 years; synthetic slate costs $10 to $15 and tops out at 50 to 100 years.

Standard asphalt averages $3 to $8 per square foot and needs replacement every 20 to 30 years. If you want the slate look without the full price tag—or extra roof weight—synthetic is a solid middle ground.

With routine inspections and prompt repairs, a natural slate roof can last well beyond 100 years; some hard-slate installations reach the 200-year mark. Soft slate falls in the 50- to 125-year range, and synthetic products last 50 to 100 years.

Remember, flashing, fasteners, and the underlying structure may need attention sooner than the stone itself. Severe hail or fallen limbs can also shorten life span, so schedule periodic checkups with a slate-qualified roofer.

If you plan to stay in your home long term—or want a standout selling point—slate delivers strong value. Although installation costs are high, owners often recoup 60% to 70% at resale and enjoy lower replacement cycles than asphalt. The stone’s durability, energy efficiency, and timeless curb appeal also appeal to eco-conscious buyers because fewer roofs end up in landfills. Just be sure your framing can handle the weight and that you budget for occasional specialty repairs.

Skip the DIY climb if you have a slate roof. Slate may be tough against the weather, but a single misplaced step can crack a tile and create a leak path. The surface also turns slick when wet, upping the risk of injury. Professional crews use staging and hook ladders that spread weight across multiple slates, protecting both the roof and the worker. To inspect or repair slate, call a roofer who specializes in the material.
