"Christi came right on time and spent three hours cleaning the kitchen, living room, a very small bathroom, and two bedrooms and an office that I told her needed only vacuuming then swept, mopped and vacuumed only my master bedroom and didn't clean it or our bathroom. Basically the two most used rooms in the house didn't get cleaned. Trash didn't get emptied. I expected my whole house to be cleaned not just half of it."

"We received an approximately $20,000 rural cities loan from our town in Northern Minnesota. Through the county agency we chose Expert Building Services as one of our several options because they were one of the contractors that I knew from the list. Of the 3 contractors we chose, John called first, kept his appointment time, worked within our time frame (90 days required by the program). We had a few extras that he helped us get and worked with both our loan budget and our personal budget for the things we were looking for. His staff was prompt and courteous, safety conscious. The staff was considerate of the space around them (including our "pet room") and made sure they cleaned up the waste products and supplies that were present. John checked with us personally on a regular basis to make sure we were happy with the progress of the project and with the comportment of his staff. We are very pleased with the whole process because within 30-35 days they had the whole project all "buttoned up" and we were ready to continue with our lives. We didn't find the presence of the contracting staff to be stressful as we were gone most of the day at work. We looked forward to seeing the progress made from day to day. John had the staff start during the very last week of March but I don't remember the day. We recommend Expert Building Services if you are looking for an honest group and one that respects your time and property."

"this tree service had a guy leaving their flyer at each door in the neighborhood. I usually don't do business this way. Chad offered an estimate on some trimming. Called him 1/2 hour later-came right over to finalize. It was end of day, so they came back promptly the next morning. Had about a 4 man team, and worked from 9am-3pm. Very courteous, professional, hard working, pleasant. They even put up with a ground nest of bees --brought out a sheet of plywood over it do they wouldn't get stung.Jesse Vosen the manager checked back throughout the work period. Knows his stuff. They are based out of Eden Valley, MN and come through our town for short periods of time in the summer. Their work was excellent , the price was reasonable compared to other estimates and work we have hired before, and they raked up the area they worked in, and cleaned up the mess on the road-left it clean.. What I appreciated most is they didn't give an inflated high estimate as some trimmers have in the past, who play games and go back and forth before you get to an agreed upon price. I would hire them again without question."

FAQs for handyman service projects in Hill City, MN

Winterizing shields your home’s structure and key systems from snow, ice, and freezing temperatures. By sealing drafts and tuning up heaters, you cut energy waste, extend the life of appliances and windows, and avoid surprise repair bills. A small up-front investment keeps rooms cozy and protects the value of your biggest asset all winter long.

Yes, it’s important to prepare your sprinkler system for the winter. Blowing out the lines and insulating above-ground parts keeps valves and pipes from splitting when temperatures drop. A quick winterization visit costs far less than repairing burst components in spring, and it ensures your lawn--and your wallet--stay in good shape once the thaw hits.

A full home winterization plan goes beyond sealing windows and pipes. You might schedule a home energy audit, cover outdoor furniture, service the snowblower, swap smoke-detector batteries, add outlet gaskets, and hang storm doors. Each step beefs up your home’s protection, cuts drafts, and lowers the chance of costly cold-weather damage.
