"Install was on time and as described. '1st Response' did the job I expected for the water heater install. Good customer service for scheduling. Note that the Angie's list price of $799 only covers the installation of 50 gallon gas AO Smith hot water tank. Assuming you also do installation of new brass fittings, new flex lines and new expansion tank (which you should probably all do with the new water heater) it will cost an ADDITIONAL approx $500-600 (mostly labor costs). That's a competitive price but still, you should be aware that the original quote is just for the water tank install itself, nothing else. All-in-all they did a good job for a competitive price. A few months after the install, so far, I can say I would recommend them for this type of work."

"Drain Pro plumbing installed a new Toto flush mount toilet for us which requires a bit more work and effort than standard toilet installations. The technician was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. They have done other projects for us in the past such as convert a single vanity in the master to a dual vanity and redo plumbing in the kitchen to accommodate our IKEA drawer. I would hire them again for any future projects."

"Lead plumber Mitchell, did great service with even better follow up. As with a lot of services, it comes down to the actual person with which you interact. Mitchell handled a drywall repair issue related to the installation by taking personal responsibility and action to cover the cost himself. Seatown plumbing manager initially said they were not covering the repair, but after speaking with Mitchell this morning confirmed that Seatown will reimburse him for the cost of repair. Mitchell exhibited a high level of competency in his work, and an equally high level of character."

"These guys were amazing! We had the plastic water intake valve behind the toilet burst and spray water everywhere at 4am. after cleaning up the mess we called Cahill's at about 6:45am and they arrived by 8:30am to fix the valve, which took them like 15 minutes. I asked them about doing all of the valves in the house (16 total) and they agreed to come back at noon to do all of them. At exactly noon they were back at my house and had all the valves changed out in less than 2 hours. They were friendly, clean, polite, and provided excellent customer service. Jason and Harry were the team that came to my house and I would highly recommend them. And thanks to Russell, the owner, for giving us a great deal on the work his team did. We will be calling on Cahill's for any future plumbing needs."

"ONeill Plumbing hit another home run with James and Kyle. They were prompt, courteous and knowledgeable. James imparted quite a bit of wisdom when it came to contacting my faucet manufacturer for a replacement part and Kyle told me how to deal with the water company should I ever experience a broken pipe and any resulting water bill issue. O’Neill Plumbing has been my go to plumber for many years and James and Kyle have definitely made sure I won’t be changing anytime in the foreseeable future."

"I had some very old faucets in the house, so old that no one makes them any more. Sam made recommendations as to parts, and performed the re-plumbing of both showers in the home. The work is excellent!"

"We needed multiple plumbing issues fixed including: new water heater, and removal of old water heater, toilets reset, new sump pump installed, new laundry bibs, and shower valves. They came out promptly and provided a detailed written estimate. The estimate was approximately $1,000 more than other plumbing bids we got and so for that reason we did not use their services."

"Very happy with the entire experience. Got an estimate which was the lowest of the 4 plumbing companies that I contacted for the job. I felt the price was reasonable and pretty close to the price I thought it would cost. The job was done at the agreed upon estimate quote price, no additional cost after the fact. I was able to schedule the job next day. The Plumber was on time and only took him 1 1/2 hours to complete the job. Work was very well done and very happy with result. Cost - $1,339.00 + Tax."

"We have been using Button Plumbing for well over 15 years, both at our previous home, our current home, and family member's home as well. I have have had Hot water heaters replaced (both gas and electric), furnace service (very first service call I believe along with replacing electric hot water heater with gas model). Tub insert and shower valve assembly replacement. We have had toilets replaced, another constantly running toilet valve replaced, and a utility sinks installed at the two different homes. Every time we have had fantastic service from Jim or another plumber (mostly have had Jim at our jobs). Carole is fantastic at scheduling and invoicing and is super friendly and helpful with all aspects of quoting the job to dispatching the service technician. With a smaller company and smaller staff while I could see some delays in scheduling (availability) we have never had an issue or extended wait. The most recent job we had a hot water fail at a family members.. We called Carole (after hours) and left a message and still received a call back that same evening. They fit Jim in the very next day, later in the afternoon, and we had a fully replace hot water heater in less than 24 hours from when we contacted them. Their prices are always competitive and inline, often less than DIY jobs for parts had I gone to the big-box store, and the labor fees are well worth the price vs. time as quality is second to none. I just called to schedule hot water replacement at my current house, and have it scheduled this coming week (9 days from now) as that worked with my schedule. If I were under duress, I am confident I could have it done sooner. I highly recommend Button Plumbing and will recommend them to my friends, family members, and even other anonymous members of the Yelp community."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Hobart, WA

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
