I love that my property is now considered a focal point because of the vinyl fencing installed by South Star Fence LLC. When installed properly, a fence can increase the value and security of a property. Better than any no trespassing sign, but at the same time, no trespassing. South Star Fencing, LLC, listens to your concerns and comes up with superb solutions. When I purchased my home in 2018, a neighbor informed me that many previous owners of my home tried in vain to have a fence installed, but since my rear yard was pitched downward, the only fence that could be installed was an aluminum chain link fence. Well, now that same aluminum chain link fence is the backing to my new 6-foot privacy vinyl fence! Excellent! Jim work with us through the initial design of the kitchen all the way through the final walk through. Our kitchen is FANTASTIC! Jim was able to provide valuable insight throughout the process and guided us through all of the key decisions on layout and construction plans. When challenges came up or unexpected repairs were needed, Jim explained the approach and got everything set up perfectly. "The past few years we have completed a fair number of renovations around our house. During this time, we have come across business that have been criminal (stole our $$), been ok, better than average and exceptional. I can honestly say Fence & Deck Connection falls in the EXCEPTIONAL category. Our journey with F&D began with me filling out their online forum. Jeff W soon emailed me back and we set up an appt. Our sales person was Kevin B and he was very thorough and took the time to explain everything and answered our questions. He even replied to emails outside normal working hours. When he left one felt confident that the work that was to be done was going to be done to a very high standard. What really surprised me was the price. We had quotes form 3 other businesses, and they were not really that close. 1 was close but the contract was vague, so not well put together like F&D. I talked to Kevin about time to get the fence installed, he stated 2-4 weeks. I explained we had been told timeframes from other salesmen, then you put down the deposit and unexpectantly, the time frame given was much longer. He assured me that was not the case and put me in touch with Cheryl T. Superb lady to chat with and she assured me they had been meeting that 2-4-week window, even in their busier parts of the season. True to her word, once we signed the contract and put down the deposit via credit card (which happened quickly) the fence was installed in 13 days. They (Kevin and Cheryl) listened to that timeline concern and got the job done exceptionally well, just exceptional customer service. The appointed production manager for the install of the fence was Francisco C. To no surprise another outstanding gentleman. He came to the house at the arranged time and we walked through the process again, laid out the fence with flags (so one does not have to be home on install day) Again answered my questions, went over what takes place on Install day, just an outstanding fellow. Day of the fence install, the crew of 3 and Francisco should up around 0830 and quickly got to work. I have cameras all around my house and I checked up on their progress throughout the day and I can attest that these 3-gentleman worked very effectively and were very proud of their work. I was amazed that they were about to complete the whole fence in 1 day. So fast is good, but how did it look? Amazing, super straight, level and sturdy. Very impressive work. I would like to thank Jeff W, Kevin B, Cheryl T and Francisco C and the fence crew for an outstanding experience. They all listened to our concerns/questions and not once did they drop the ball. Sorry for this lengthy review, I feel if a company takes the time to provide quality service, the least I can do is take the time to write a review. I know this review may sound too positive, but it truly has been an exceptional experience from start to finish."

"Tom was great. His price beat all the big companies. He was friendly and easy to work with. He did a great job and got everything done quickly. He was conscientious of the bottom edge since we have little dogs. He listened to what we wanted and offered suggestions. We are very happy with the fence and the work done. We have recommended him to several friends and we were very glad to support a local family business."

"The fence was installed satisfactorily, but we requested a certain kind of post caps but were given another (not a huge deal, but still we didn't get what we asked for). But, because the fence abutted our basement bilco doors they had to remove one of the door handles. They proceeded to break both of them. I reported this to the company and they asked that I send pictures, which I did. The company has never replaced or compensated me for the broken door handles.

"It went great. They kept my dogs in mind through the whole install, by having the gates swing in instead of out. They centered one of the gates to my driveway which caused them extra work by cutting out an old basketball pole. Great job all around."

It was clearly the most expensive project we've ever completed on our home so finding a trustworthy, skilled team that specializes in both decks and hardscape patios was key. Thank you Annie's list for helping us find Gary and team! Pricing: We received three quotes for the job. Gary's was not only the most reasonable (~15k less than the highest quote), but his willingness to work within our budget, flexibility throughout the project, suggestions and recommendations were all on point. Craftsmanship: We are so impressed with the quality and craftsmanship of the deck, hardscape, sitting walls, and custom lighting and fire pit. It surpassed are lofty expectations in every way. If I ever have any future decking or patio hardscape needs I will be hiring Gary and team again. DO IT... you will thank me as I have the previous reviewers for sending me his way."
