"Phil arrived on time. He walked us through the house and the garage and identified safety issues, items that would need immediate repair, or repair sometime in the near future, areas where drainage would need to be improved, and also pointed out the pluses of the home. He took pictures of all items of concern. He identified that the roof was not 10 years old as stated in the disclosure, but actually 20+ years old; he also pointed out that the electrical panel was a known fire hazard manufactured by a company that had been shut down by the government many years ago. He placed a radon test in the basement, and instructed the home owner with regard to the radon test process. <br /> Phil wrote up his reports thoroughly and included pictures of things that were mentioned, and got them to us very quickly. We had questions, and he was readily available to us for conversations. <br /> We would recommend Real Pro, and we would use their services again. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"Soos Radon was very responsive to my need for radon remediation in connection with the impending sale of my former residence. They were able to provide a quote over the phone and to set up prompt installation. The installers arrived at the scheduled time, were courteous and professional and left the property as clean as they found it. Satisfactory re-test results were received quickly. All in all a surprisingly easy process that took 2 weeks from initial contact to receiving the re-test results. I would not hesitate to use Soos Radon again."

"After Healthy Homes did such a great job on my rental apartment, decided to see if they could help me with the cigarette smell in my car. Was sold a small handheld fog machine and some Un-Odor product. Fogged the entire interior of my vehicle, sprayed the product on all surfaces. After washing the windows with Windex and wiping everything down with a dry towel, the car was free from odor and looked and smelled clean and fresh! Fantastic Products!!!"

"John Gutierrez went above and beyond! My husband and I researched many home inspection companies, and HOMETECH NJ INSPECTION SERVICES came the most highly recommended. John really took his time inspecting our home, explaining to us what he saw a long the way. We actually followed him around the whole time, asking an endless amount of questions. John did not mind one bit, he was super patient and extremely easy to talk to. He is very professional, knowledgeable, and overall quite impressive. John also arranged for a sewer, chimney, radon, and oil tank specialist to come into our home. He was very organized, and the whole experience could not have gone smoother. We got a detailed inspection report within a few days that was laid out clearly, and very thorough. John G. is top notch, and we would definitely recommend him to anyone looking to purchase a home."

"When the inspector that was recommended to us couldn't schedule something within out time frame they recommended Luciano. He performed a thorough inspection of our home over ~ 4 hours. Not only did he do a great job explaining everything that he was examining, he also spent a significant amount of time educating us on the heating system and furnance (gas furnance that services a steam heat system) and how to properly maintain them. In addition, he did a great job outside pointing out areas where the grading was not sufficient to lead water away from the house. We had our parents and our realtor present and he happily answered questions from everyone. We received the report promptly and were very pleased with the pictures and the amount of detail that were included. Afterwards we moved into the home we had some follow-up questions and not only did he respond prompty to our email, he also send us the item #s from both Lowe's and Home Depot so we knew exactly how to address our issues. We will definitely use him in the future if we ever make another home purchase. <br />"

FAQs for radon gas abatement projects in Howell, NJ

The only way to know whether your home or water supply contains radon is to schedule a professional test. A qualified radon inspector will collect samples, deliver lab-verified results, and explain the findings for $150 to $800. Once you know your exact levels, you and your radon mitigation pro can choose the right system and tackle the problem before it affects your family’s health.

Both roles tackle radon, but they focus on different steps. Inspectors test your home, interpret the results, and determine whether levels exceed EPA guidelines. Mitigation pros design and install the system that lowers those levels. Some companies do both, but the skills and equipment differ, so always verify that the person you hire is properly certified for the specific service you need.

Installing a mitigation unit fixes radon problems by reducing indoor gas levels to established safe standards. A system designed and installed by a mitigation expert, tailored to your home's specific layout and foundation, guarantees effective radon reduction. This expert installation ensures consistent performance over time while safeguarding your indoor air quality.

Open windows and doors do not reduce radon levels because they trigger a pressure imbalance that draws radon-laden air into your home. This practice fails to control radon concentration and can even worsen the issue. An active suction mitigation system provides a proven, safe, and effective solution to reliably reduce radon levels.

Radon mitigation systems generally last between 10 and 30 years, depending on system type and maintenance. Passive systems endure the longest because they have no moving parts, whereas active systems, which use a fan, require fan replacement every 5 to 10 years. System components, such as PVC pipes, seals, and fittings, can remain effective for decades when paired with periodic inspections and proper maintenance.

Radon mitigation systems consume between 300 and 3,000 kWh of electricity per year, depending on fan size and system design. On average, an active radon fan draws 100 to 300 watts continuously, which translates to roughly 876 kWh annually, and adds $30 to $300 to your energy bill each year. Choosing a high-efficiency fan and ensuring tight sealing around pipes helps minimize these ongoing costs.
