Customers say: Terrific value

"I hired CD & Son Concrete to remove an old concrete patio and lay a new, much larger patio. They did the work in a day and a half & I couldn't be more pleased with the result. The new patio is beautiful and they cleaned up everything before leaving. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again."

"Well! An appointment was set and the work coordinated and scheduled very quickly. The place in the yard looks even better than before the problem and the issue was corrected and I learned a lot about my septic system that will be useful in the future. I highly recommend."

"MR. COUCHMAN WAS REFERRED TO ME BY ANOTHER COMPANY I HAD DO SOME WORK IN MY HOME. HE IS LICENSED, BONDED AND INSURED, AND HE GUARANTEES HIS WORK. HE DOES JUST ABOUT EVERY KIND OF WORK ON A HOME, INSIDE AND OUT. HE WORKED ME IN TO AN ALREADY BUSY DAY WITH ONE DAY''S NOTICE. HE WAS LEAVING ON VACATION THE NEXT DAY, AND WANTED TO BE SURE I DIDN''T HAVE ANY MORE LEAKING WHILE HE WAS AWAY. HE FIXED THE CAUSE OF THE LEAK, THEN WENT OVER THE ENTIRE ROOF TO CORRECT THE SAME ISSUE ON ALL OTHER SHINGLES IN THE VALLEYS, SINCE THIS HAD NOT BEEN DONE BY THE BUILDER THREE YEARS AGO. HE WILL COME BACK WHEN HE RETURNS FROM HIS TRIP TO REPAIR THE INSIDE CEILING WHERE THE LEAK CAME THROUGH. WITH A MINIMUM FEE FOR COMING OUT AND DOING WORK, HE DIDN''T HAVE TO GO OVER THE WHOLE ROOF LIKE HE DID. HE CHARGED ME NO MORE THAN THE MINIMUM. THE WORK IS GUARANTEED, AND HE SEEMED A VERY FINE, HONEST AND COMPETENT PERSON TO HAVE IN MY HOME. I RECOMMEND HIM HIGHLY FOR ANY TYPE OF WORK."

"The estmate was performed in a timely manner and came in midway between two other contractors. The crew doing the work were professional and courteous and got the job done in a timely manner. Finished product looks great! I will be having them back out next spring to pour concrete as well."

"The roofing itself went just fine. I worked with the contractor on the roof edge, which he and one helper carried off nicely. He did the new chimney cap nicely and replaced the original chimney flashing in a professional manner. This man is good with detail work. Overall, I am pleased with his work and would hire him again. If the cost below seems high, it should be pointed out that it includes the improvements noted above and also an upgrade to the shingle quality."

"Bill is a perfectionist and does exactly what he says he will do.   cleans up after work is finish and leaves it cleaner than it was before he got there.  Is considerate of others and doesn't track in dirt, grease, etc.  He did some inside painting & a lot of masonry on some outside steps.  They looked like they were never broken & it all blended so well.  The bricks matched, the <br /> mortar color matched.  he has done several jobs for me throughout the years.  He has done a lot of tuck-pointing on a old 2 story red brick I owned approximately 22 years ago.  Bill is not related to me in any way.  HIs years of professionalism has just made me glad I know someone I trust completely.  Honesty and workmanship are hard to find! <br />"

FAQs for concrete patios, walks & steps installation projects in Huron, IN

Most sidewalks rely on a ready‑mix blend of Portland cement, sand, gravel, and water that trucks deliver to your site and pour in one continuous lift. For added strength, many contractors fold in fiber mesh or steel reinforcement. This mix cures into a rock‑solid slab that stands up to foot traffic, freeze‑thaw cycles, and daily wear for decades. Expect a pro to recommend a 4‑inch‑thick pour for standard walkways.

With the right mix, proper drainage, and routine upkeep, a concrete sidewalk can last 25 to 50 years. Freeze‑thaw cycles, road salt, and heavy loads all shorten that timeline, but sealing every few years and patching small cracks early keeps damage in check. Think of sealing as inexpensive insurance for decades of safe, stable footing. In milder climates, some slabs push well past the 30‑year mark without major repairs.

Concrete sidewalks crack as a result of significant temperature fluctuations and heavy load pressures. The freeze-thaw cycles and sustained weight from vehicles or intense foot traffic force the concrete to develop cracks over time. Applying a premium sealant every two to three years and substituting salt with sand for de-icing minimizes crack formation. Regular maintenance and timely repairs safeguard the sidewalk’s structural integrity and extend its service life.
