"reinforcedBrad was right on time. Went right to work. Replaced 1 toilet, which we supplied. He worked quickly, and got the job done in less time than we expected. A second toilet had a leak. He removed it and replaced the faulty seal, which he felt will solve the problem. He also replaced the solid metal source pipe with a flexible hose. All done in less then 1-1/2 hours. I haven't gotten the bill yet so I can't comment the cost for the repairs. I plan on calling him again for future plumbing issues. <br />"

"I called and spoke with Michele and explained my issues. She was not sure they could get to us that week (they are located near Batavia), but called me back after 20 minutes to set up a home visit. Dan happened to be in Syracuse one day that week, so we made an appointment for the 15th. Dan tested our water, explained the system we have in the house currently, and soon deducted that our boiler system had been serviced about the same time that the problem began. As it turned out, the Anode rod that was put in our water heater was the wrong type, and was causing the iron to pull from the water and caused the smell. Once we removed the anode rod, the smell went away and the iron problems diminished almost immediately. We did change to resin guard salt pellets to help the softener system stay clean. Thank you Dan! <br />"

"Both visits were great!!!! He's very prompt, helpful at explaining things to a non-plumber, had all the parts and tools he needed, was thoughtful about how far to dial back the house pressure so that the showers still functioned, and clearly interested in saving all our plumbing from the risks involved in too much water pressure. He even gave me a referral for someone to help repair our sheet rock that got water damaged."

"It went very well. After a bit of a wait, I received a very comprehensive report of 88 specific items as well as bacteria, fungi and particles. Each Item detected over the EPA drinking water limits had an explanation sheet. Also provided was a contact person at the company to address any questions you had about the report findings. I thought the service was well worth the $300 just for the peace of mind. I intend to use the company on an annual basis going forward."

"I haven't had a bill for them. I had them come to my house many times and the pricing has been very fair. They did work for me in December too and the pricing was very good. They were very quick and have been very good to me. I was very satisfied with them."

"Mr. Civiletto is a very pleasant guy to work with. He is very professional, and he knows what he is doing. He and his guys installed the new furnace and sump pump, and they did a great job. <br /> I think he is a very busy and popular guy, and that maybe makes it hard for him to get back to folks quickly. It seemed that he needed to be more than one place at a time. I'd rather have that, though, and have quality work done at a fair price! <br />"

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Ithaca, NY

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
