Customers say: Quality work

"Better than we could have hoped for! We love the work did and they were great to work with. Very creative and beautiful finished product. We know that we can call at any time with questions (even 3 years later) and they are very quick to respond. We will work with them again as soon as we are ready to tackle the back yard. Highly recommended!"

"I contacted three reputable companies in my area. Petty's was the third one I called. I found it somewhat amusing when the second company came out, the rep asked me if I minded telling him who the third company was that I would be talking to. When I told him Petty's, he said, and quot;Oh, I'm not worried about them, they'll be at least twice as high as what I'm quoting youand quot;. I was a bit concerned and nearly called and cancelled the appointment. Petty's ended up being $700 less. <br /> I called the office to have someone contact me for a quote. The lady that answers the phone there is always super nice and does a fantastic job at making that all important first impression. Jason came out and looked at my property and was able to give me a quote by phone without me having to take off of work. They were able to work me in the next week. The Petty's crew showed up when expected and all were professional and polite. The work was completed in one day. The sprinkler system works great and all my neighbors are commenting on how great my grass looks! There was one small issue that my local water company was unhappy with, and Petty's came right back out and took care of the problem at no additional cost to me. I highly recommend them, and will call them for any future sprinkler or landscaping needs I may have. <br />"

"Weems showed up on time and took the time to listen to my concerns about protecting surrounding vegetation and other trees. They were very careful to address these concerns while conducting the tree services. The tree removal crew was highly skilled and art in motion. Everyone knew what do and when to do it. I don't think a single piece of wood ever hit the ground, other than the dead tree that I instructed them to just drop instead of trying rope it to the ground. Everything was cleaned up just as it looked before they began work and none of the surrounding trees or landscaping was damaged or trampled. <br />"

"Existing walkway approx. 50 yrs old was uneven, mortar was cracked and loose everywhere, some stones on the steps were loose and dangerous to walk on.  <br /> Met with Mr Bennett for quote, discussed what I needed, how he would do it, his ideas, agreed on method and details, and got quote. He has a great picture resume of previous projects. <br /> Mr Bennett and employees removed all old rock, cleaned up old mortar on rocks and disposed of loose mortar pieces.  Next they leveled the dirt that the old stone was installed on (including cutting some roots that were in the way), staked out some corners and put lines in to establish the final height of walkway.  It is on a slightly sloped front yard. <br /> Portable concrete mixer was used to mix on site and laid down concrete with reinforcement and fitted each stone.  Each stone was leveled as was fit on the walkway.  Its like a jigsaw puzzle fitting and chiseling the old stones to fit nicely. <br /> Eight steps at one end were built (originally 7) with attention to height of each step.  It required one more step than original to get reasonable step sizes. <br /> After complete, they cleaned up the area and acid etched the residual off the walkway surface resulting in a great looking walkway and steps. <br /> Final price was exactly as quoted. <br />"

FAQs for brick and stone patios, walks, and steps installation projects in Jacksonville, TX

When cleaning your flagstone patio, begin by gently hosing off loose dirt and debris. Use a mild solution of white vinegar and water or diluted dish soap to scrub the surface with a soft-bristled brush. Avoid using abrasive tools, such as wire brushes, as they can damage the stone’s seal and finish. This careful approach effectively removes mold and grime while preserving the natural beauty of your patio.

Flagstone naturally offers a neutral palette that includes shades of grey, black, red, yellow, brown, and tan, and its inherent color cannot be altered. Choosing varieties like bluestone provides a subtle bluish tint that complements many exterior designs. These natural hues enhance curb appeal and create a refined, timeless look in your outdoor space, ensuring a sophisticated finish with minimal upkeep.

Flagstone for a patio must have a minimum thickness of 1.5 inches to reliably support furniture and foot traffic. Using stone that is two to three inches thick is recommended to ensure lasting durability. The increased thickness prevents cracking under load and enhances long-term performance. Investing in thicker flagstone provides superior stability and resistance to weather conditions, ensuring your outdoor space remains both safe and attractive.

You can paint a flagstone patio by using a high-quality, outdoor elastomeric latex paint designed for heavy foot traffic. Painting not only refreshes the patio’s appearance but also creates a waterproof barrier that protects the stone from damage. Regular reapplication every one to two years maintains its durability and visual appeal, ensuring your patio remains both stylish and well-protected.
