"We have had a lot of contractors doing work since we moved to the area last year. Smith Brothers has been the best company we have worked with hands down! They installed a new septic system for us. They went above and beyond making sure they walked us through anything we needed to know and had amazing attention to detail. We appreciate everything they did. This company really lives its values and takes great pride in their work and it shows. We will be customers for life anytime we need plumbing or excavation we will call them. Thanks again! ?"

"<p>I would absolutely call Mark again and recommend him to others. I called and left a message for Mark to schedule an appointment and estimate. He responded quickly and set up an appointment that week. We went over a fairly long list of plumbing needs and he was able to assess a low volume problem in the faucets as calcium build up. Replaced faucets and all is working well. The amount of work was spread out over three visits. Each time Mark was on time, professional and did exactly what he promised for a very reasonable price. </p> <br />"

"For all their seasonal customers, Klinginsmith sends a letter in advance asking when you want them to "turn on" your house and whether there's any other work you need done then. I called their office, told them the date, and they put us on their schedule to have the antifreeze drained from our sinks, showers, and toilets, and to reconnect the plumbing to our washing machine and refrigerator. When we arrived, the plumbing was running fine--as it always is with this company."

"Mark C. is an outstanding tech. Upon arriving at my home he showed his professionalism by introducing himself. He was extremely thorough and answered all the questions we had about how the unit worked, since it was replacing one that was 24 yrs. old. Upon completion of the work I found both my basement and my backyard where the ac unit was installed was cleaned up to my satisfaction. It was so wonderful to feel cool air in my home on such a warm day. A great price and quality professional service, I would not hesitate to call Zenner & Ritter for any future plumbing needs."

"It went very well. After a bit of a wait, I received a very comprehensive report of 88 specific items as well as bacteria, fungi and particles. Each Item detected over the EPA drinking water limits had an explanation sheet. Also provided was a contact person at the company to address any questions you had about the report findings. I thought the service was well worth the $300 just for the peace of mind. I intend to use the company on an annual basis going forward."

"Extremely well. Bill Bennett has been with Isaac and its predecessor for many years and knows our house and his business. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Isaac offered a special for both cleanings and tuneups for $169, and that plus tax is the price we paid."

FAQs for plumbing installation for a remodel or addition projects in Jamestown, NY

Adding bathroom plumbing to a detached garage starts with the basic line installation cost of $900 to $1,300. On top of this base expense, you'll need to budget for each fixture. A toilet costs  $250 to $550, sinks cost $150 to $800, and a shower or bathtub costs $400 to $1,900. The project will also require ventilation, moisture-resistant materials, and possibly electrical work. Remember that these costs reflect only the plumbing aspects—additional construction, finishing, and permitting expenses will apply to complete a functional bathroom space.

While certain aspects of garage renovation might be suitable for DIY enthusiasts, plumbing installation requires professional expertise. Connecting to water and sewer systems demands specialized knowledge and equipment, and improper installation can result in severe water damage, code violations, and potential health hazards. Most municipalities require permits for plumbing modifications, and these often stipulate that licensed professionals must perform work. Consider limiting your involvement to simpler tasks like painting or basic finishing work.

The timeframe for adding plumbing to a detached garage spans one to three days for the actual plumbing work. However, this represents only the active installation period. The complete project timeline must account for planning, obtaining permits (which can take weeks depending on your locality), coordinating multiple contractors if needed, and addressing any unexpected challenges that arise during installation. Weather conditions can also impact excavation and outdoor connection work.

Adding plumbing to a detached garage will likely increase your property taxes. Tax assessors consider plumbing an improvement that enhances property value and functionality. The specific tax impact varies by location and project scope. Converting a garage into living space with plumbing facilities can trigger significant reassessment in many jurisdictions. Before proceeding with your project, consult your local tax assessor's office to understand the potential tax implications and factor this ongoing expense into your decision-making process.
